The 1994 Connacht Senior Football Championship was the installment of the annual Connacht Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Connacht GAA. The winning team qualified for the 1994 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Leitrim won their second title and their first since 1927 Connacht Senior Football Championship, 1927. Leitrim GAA
The Leitrim County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae Liatroma) or Leitrim GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Leitrim. The county board is also responsible for the Leitrim inter-county teams. The county football team play in the Connacht Senior Football Championship and compete in Division 4 of the National Football League. John O'Mahony (Mayo Politician)
John O'Mahony (born 8 June 1953) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician and former football manager who served as a Senator from 2016 to 2020, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo constituency from 2007 to 2016. Early and personal life O'Mahony is a native of Kilmovee, County Mayo. He is a graduate of University College Galway. He taught for many years at St Nathy's College, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon. O'Mahony is married to Gerardine Towey, they have five daughters. Sports career O'Mahony was manager of the Mayo Gaelic football team, and formerly led Galway to two All-Ireland Senior Football Championship victories in 1998 and 2001, and guided Leitrim to success in the 1994 Connacht Senior Football Championship. Donie Shine (19 August 1951 – 28 April 2017) was a player and manager from County Roscommon. He was manager of the Roscommon county team in the early '90s. 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 65th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Mayo won their second All-Ireland in a row. The Curse of '51 Mayo have not won an All-Ireland football final since 1951. Legend has it that a priest became furious when the Mayo team bus returning home from the 1951 final passed by a funeral without showing respect as they celebrated their All-Ireland win. The priest supposedly put a curse on Mayo, that they would not win another title until all of the team had died. Since the deaths of Pádraig Carney in 2019 and Paddy Prendergast in 2021, only one member of the 1951 team remain living – Mick Loftus, though he was a sub and did not play on the day. Prendergast, who was the final surviving member of the team and played at full-back, died at the age of 95 on 26 September 2021. Jack O'Shea
Jack O'Shea (born 19 November 1957 in Cahersiveen, County Kerry) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played Gaelic football at various times with his local clubs St Mary's in Kerry and Leixlip in Kildare. He was a member of the Kerry senior football team from 1976 until 1992. O'Shea is regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. He is currently a media pundit with a column in the sports section of the Irish edition of ''The Sunday Times''. His son Aidan made his debut for the Kerry senior team in their successful 2009 National Football League campaign.
