The 1994 Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament was the nineteenth edition, held at the BSU Pavilion at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. Fifth-seeded host Boise State upset second-seeded in the championship game, , to repeat as tournament champions and gain their fourth tournament title overall. The Broncos had defeated regular season champion in the semifinals. Format Conference membership remained at eight and the tournament format was unchanged, with an exception; the site was predetermined, rather than awarded to the regular season champion. The top six teams from the regular season participated, and the top two earned byes into the semifinals. Taco Bell Arena
ExtraMile Arena (formerly BSU Pavilion and Taco Bell Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the western United States, on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. It is located on the east end of campus, between West Campus Lane and César Chávez Circle, immediately northwest of Albertsons Stadium. Home to the Broncos basketball and gymnastics teams, its current seating capacity is 12,644 for basketball. The elevation of its floor is approximately above sea level. The venue is also used for concerts (capacity 13,390), community events, and trade shows ( of arena floor space plus in the auxiliary gym). 1994 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 17, 1994, and ended with the championship game on April 4 in Charlotte, North Carolina, played at Charlotte Coliseum. A total of 63 games were played. The Final Four consisted of Arkansas, making their fifth trip and first since 1990, Arizona, making their second ever trip and first since 1988, Florida, making their first ever trip, and Duke, making their sixth trip in the last seven tournaments. In the national championship game, Arkansas defeated Duke by a score of 76–72 and won their first ever national championship. Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The Big Sky Conference women's basketball tournament is held at the end of each women's college basketball regular season. The tournament was first conducted by the Big Sky Conference at the end of the 1988–89 season, the first in which the conference sponsored women's sports. The Big Sky includes in its history the preceding six years of the Mountain West Athletic Conference, a women's athletic league consisting mostly of Big Sky members that operated from 1982 to 1988, so the inaugural tournament was in March 1983. (The MWAC of the 1980s is not affiliated with the current Mountain West Conference (MWC), launched in 1999). The tournament winner receives the Big Sky's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The 1994 National Invitation Tournament was the 1994 edition of the annual NCAA college basketball competition. Of note, in Kansas State's 115–77 victory over Fresno State in the quarterfinals, Askia Jones of Kansas State set the NCAA postseason record of 14 three-point field goals. His final total of 62 points, spurred by nine consecutive successful three-point shots bridging the first and second halves, was also the second-highest scoring output in major-college postseason history. The 1993–94 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represented the University of Idaho during the 1993–94 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Members of the Big Sky Conference, the Vandals were led by first-year head coach Joe Cravens and played their home games on campus at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. The Vandals were overall in the regular season and in conference play, third in the league standings. At the conference tournament in Boise, the Vandals defeated sixth-seed Montana in the opening round, but lost to league runner-up Idaho State in the semifinals. The event has been held annually since 1976, the conference's thirteenth year. The tournament winner earns a berth in the NCAA Division I tournament.
