Fernand Ledoux
Fernand Ledoux (born Jacques Joseph Félix Fernand Ledoux, 24 January 1897, Tirlemont – 21 September 1993, Villerville) was a French film and theatre actor of Belgian origin. He studied with Raphaël Duflos at the CNSAD, and began his career with small roles at the Comédie-Française. He appeared in close to eighty films, with his best remembered role being the stationmaster Roubaud in Jean Renoir's ''La Bête humaine'' (1938), but he remained primarily a theatrical actor for the duration of his career. Married to Fernande Thabuy, with whom he had four children, Ledoux was an amateur painter, and lived for many years at Pennedepie in Normandy. Later he moved to Villerville, where he died and where he is buried. Robert Triffin
Robert, Baron Triffin (5 October 1911 – 23 February 1993) was a Belgian-American economist best known for his critique of the Bretton Woods system of fixed currency exchange rates. His critique became known later as Triffin's dilemma. Life After completing his undergraduate studies at the Catholic University of Leuven, Triffin, a Francophone Belgian, went to the US and received his PhD from Harvard University in 1938 and taught there from 1939 until 1942. He held positions in the US Federal Reserve System (1942–1946), the International Monetary Fund (1946–1948), and the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (1948–1951), now the OECD. In 1951, he became a professor of economics at Yale University, where he also served as Master of Berkeley College from 1969 until 1977. Triffin became a US citizen in 1942. Karel August Goeyvaerts (8 June 1923 – 3 February 1993) was a Belgian composer. Life Goeyvaerts was born in Antwerp, where he studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, Royal Flemish Music Conservatory; he later studied musical composition, composition in Paris with Darius Milhaud and musical analysis, analysis with Olivier Messiaen. He also studied ondes Martenot with Maurice Martenot, who invented the instrument. In 1951, Goeyvaerts attended the famous Darmstadt New Music Summer School where he met Karlheinz Stockhausen, who was five years younger. Both were devout Catholics and found ways of integrating religious numerology into their serial compositions. They found themselves deep in conversation, and performed a movement from Goeyvaerts's "Nummer 1", Sonata for Two Pianos (Goeyvaerts), Sonata for Two Pianos, in the composition course by Theodor Adorno there. Éliane Georgette Diane de Meuse (9 August 1899 – 3 February 1993) was a Belgian painter. She was the wife of Max Van Dyck. They met at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, Brussels where they attended the courses of the same professors. Biography Eliane de Meuse took her first drawing lessons at the age of fourteen with Ketty Hoppe, the wife of the Belgian painter Victor Gilsoul. She also trained in the studio of the genre painter Guillaume Van Strydonck, member of ''Les XX'' and James Ensor's friend. At the same time, she received advice from the sculptor Marcel Rau, Prix de Rome (Belgium), Prix de Rome 1908. In 1916, Meuse decided to become a painter and joined L'Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, Brussels.
