The 1993 Swedish Golf Tour, titled as the 1993 Scandinavian Golf Tour, was the 10th season of the Swedish Golf Tour, the main professional golf tour in Sweden since it was formed in 1984, with most tournaments being incorporated into the Challenge Tour between 1989 and 1998. Niclas Fasth
Niclas Fasth (born 29 April 1972) is a Sweden, Swedish professional golfer. Early life Fasth was born in Gothenburg. In 1982, when he was 10 years old, his parents bought a summer house close to Lysegården Golf Club in Kungälv, north of Gothenburg. His family, with father Kristher, mother Inga-Lill and younger sister Jessica, used to spend their summers there and began playing golf. With a lot of friends also playing the game, young Fasth was always at the golf course, practiced a lot and showed early talent. Beside golf, Fasth practiced other sports and during winter time also showed talent in ice hockey. At 16 years of age, he was adopted at the Swedish upper secondary sports school in Mark, outside Borås, to combine studying with golf training. The school won the Swedish School Championship in 1988, with Fasth winning individually, and represented Sweden at the international final in England. 1993 Swedish Golf Tour (women)
The 1993 Swedish Golf Tour, known as the Lancôme Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the eighth season of the Swedish Golf Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women held in Sweden. 1993 was the third year with Lancôme as the main sponsor. The tour attracted international players as the LET only featured 12 events this season. The number of events increased by two and the oldest tournament, the Höganäs Ladies Open, celebrated its 10th and penultimate installment, won by Annika Sörenstam. A teenage Maria Hjorth won two tournaments while Carin Hjalmarsson won three, and captured her second Order of Merit. Daniel Chopra
Daniel Samir Chopra (born 23 December 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. Chopra was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He represents Sweden and his mother was Swedish, but his father was Indian and Daniel moved to India at age seven where he was raised by his grandparents. He won the All-India Junior Golf Championship at age 14. Chopra turned professional in 1992. From 1996 to 2002 he played intermittently on the European Tour, sometimes failing to retain his tour card, and in 2004 he joined the U.S.-based PGA Tour. The Upsala Golf International was a golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour 1991–1993 and featured on the Challenge Tour in 1991 and 1992. It was played in Uppsala, 60 km north of Stockholm, Sweden. Per Haugsrud (born 20 February 1965) is a Norwegian professional golfer and the first Norwegian to play on the European Tour. Amateur career Haugsrud began to play golf at the nine hole course in Sarpsborg when he was only seven years old. He was a scratch player at age 15. He won two Norwegian Amateur titles and represented Norway in the 1984 Eisenhower Trophy, the World Amateur Golf Team Championships. SM Match Play
The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Fredrik Andersson Hed (20 January 1972 – 24 October 2021) was a Swedish professional golfer and broadcaster. He won the 2010 BMW Italian Open. Early life Andersson Hed was born in Halmstad on 20 January 1972. He began playing golf when he was ten years old and turned professional in 1992. Career Andersson Hed won his first title on the Challenge Tour only a year after turning pro at the inaugural Danish PGA Championship. He later won the Challenge de France held in Le Touquet in 2003. Västerås Open
The Västerås Open was a golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour that featured on the Challenge Tour 1990–1994. It was played in Västerås, Sweden. The Kentab Open was first played as an amateur tournament at Västerås GC in 1978, and it was added to the Swedish Golf Tour in 1986. Starting in 1998 the tournament began rotating between Västerås GC, Frösåker G&CC, Ängsö GC and Fullerö GC. In 2007 Västerås Municipality became the main sponsor and it was rebranded the ''Västerås Mälarstaden Open''. A similarly named event, the Kentab/RBG Open, sponsored name of the 1996 Swedish PGA Championship, was played at Frösåker G&CC and featured on the 1996 Challenge Tour. Per Nyman
Per Nyman (born 14 February 1968) is a Swedish professional golfer. Nyman was born in Kristianstad and attended Fresno State University in California, United States, where he twice won the GCAA All-America Scholar Award. He turned professional after graduating in 1992. He played on the European Tour and its official development tour, the Challenge Tour, between 1993 and 2004. He won four times on the Challenge Tour, including twice in 1995, and finished 2nd on the Challenge Tour Rankings in 1998. He was also medalist at the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage in 2002. He should not be confused with fellow professional golfer and two-time Challenge Tour winner Per G. Nyman.
