1993 Dyfed County Council Election
The sixth and final election to Dyfed County Council was held in May 1993. It was preceded by the 1989 election. In 1995 Welsh local government reorganization led to the abolition of the authority. 1989 Dyfed County Council Election
The fifth election to Dyfed County Council was held in May 1989. It was preceded by the 1985 election and followed by the 1993 election. There were extensive boundary changes at this election. Overview The Independents remained the largest party with Labour the nearest challenger. Ward Results (Cardiganshire) Aberporth Minor boundary changes. This ward was largely based on the previous Teifiside No.3 Ward. Dewi Lewis, who previously represented Cardigan, chose to contest Aberporth on this occasion after the siting Liberal member retired. Aberteifi The previous Cardigan ward was renamed Aberteifi. The siting member, Dewi Lewis, chose to contest Aberporth instead. Bigyn (electoral Ward)
Bigyn is an electoral ward, representing part of the community of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is a three-member ward for the purposes of elections to Carmarthenshire County Council, with the number of councillors being increased from two to three for the elections held in May 2022. Profile In 2014, the Bigyn electoral ward had an electorate of 4,931. The total population was 6,750, of whom 83% were born in Wales. 23.0% of the population were able to speak Welsh. Elli is an electoral ward for Llanelli Town Council and Carmarthenshire County Council in Llanelli, Wales. The ward covers a residential area in the north of Llanelli, bounded to the south by Parc y Dref, to the east by Old Road and to the west by Llanelli Rural. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 3,203. Sir Robert James Buckland (born 22 September 1968) is a British politician who served as Secretary of State for Wales from July to October 2022. He previously served as Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor from 2019 to 2021. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for South Swindon since 2010. Glanamman is the name of an electoral ward for Carmarthenshire County Council, in the Amman Valley, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is represented by one county councillor. Description The Glanamman county ward covers the Cwmamman community wards of Grenig and Tircoed, which include the areas north and south of the village of Glanamman. The eastern half of Cwmamman is covered by the Garnant ward. The population of Glanamman ward at the 2011 census was 2,347. A 2019 boundary review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales recommended ward boundaries remain the same, but the name of the ward be changed from Glanamman to Glanaman, the standard Welsh spelling. David Petersen (sculptor)
David Petersen (born 1944) is a Welsh sculptor, cultural commentator and television presenter based in St. Clears, Carmarthenshire. He is particularly known for his metal sculptures of dragons. Petersen was born in Cardiff in 1944, the son of Jack Petersen (1911–1990), a boxer who held the British Heavyweight title on two occasions. archived in Petersen worked in the GKN steelworks in Cardiff before studying fine art at Newport College of Art (1961–1965). He is an elected member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, and has served as chairman of the British Artist Blacksmiths Association. For several years Petersen led the Welsh delegation to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. He resigned from the festival committee in 2008 in protest at the content of the Welsh pavilion. Tyisha is an electoral ward for Llanelli Town Council and Carmarthenshire County Council in Llanelli, Wales. Description The ward is bounded to the south by the Swansea to Carmarthen railway, to the east by Tyisha Road and Bigyn Road, and stretches west to the Parc y Dref. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 4,079. The ward is the most deprived in Carmarthenshire and the 17th most deprived in Wales. Jackie Lawrence (politician)
Jacqueline Rita Lawrence (born 9 August 1948, Birmingham) is a politician in the United Kingdom. She was Labour Member of Parliament for the Welsh seat of Preseli Pembrokeshire, from 1997 until 2005. Early life Lawrence studied at Upperthorpe College in Darlington, and the Open University. She moved to Pembrokeshire in the 1970s and learnt Welsh in order to support her children through Welsh medium education. Lawrence worked for the Trustee Savings Bank and became a member of Dyfed County Council Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the Pembrokeshire Police authority. Dyfed () is a preserved county in southwestern Wales. It is a mostly rural area with a coastline on the Irish Sea and the Bristol Channel.
