Armenian Premier League
The Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the top association football, football competition in Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. After independence, the Football Federation of Armenia has been the unit in charge. Over the years, the league has evolved into a small league consisting of ten teams. The winner of the league is awarded a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. FC Zvartnots Echmiadzin
BMA-Arai Echmiadzin ( hy, ԲՄԱ Արայ Էջմիածին), is a defunct Armenian football club from the town of Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin}, Armavir Province. History The club was founded in 1967 during the Soviet period. Before the formation of Championship of Independent Armenia, the team itself is nowhere really could not show, only in 1990 start a professional stage in the second league of the USSR where they were in the 7th place. In 1992 the team performed in the championship of Armenia in the Premier League, on the basis of which they occupied 10th place and booked a place in the highest league in the next year. 1993 in Armenian football was the second season of independent football after the split-up from the Soviet Union. Professional football existed of two divisions, the Armenian Premier League (containing 16 teams) and the Armenian First League (2 groups of 14). Out of the 16 Premier League teams, three would relegate, while the two First League group winners along with the better runner-up would promote for the 1994 season. Gegham Hovhannisyan
Gegham mountains (or Gegham Ridge, ISO 9985: Geġam), hy, Գեղամա լեռնաշղթա (''Geghama lernasheghta'') are a range of mountains in Armenia. The range is a tableland-type watershed basin of Sevan Lake from east, inflows of rivers Araks and Hrazdan from north and west, Azat and Vedi rivers from south-west and Arpachai river from south. The average elevation of the Gegham mountain range is near 2500m. The range is of volcanic origin including many extinct volcanoes. The range is 70 km length and 48 km width, and stretch between Lake Sevan and the Ararat plain. The highest peak of the Gegham mountains is the Azhdahak, at 3597m. They are formed by a volcanic field, containing Pleistocene-to-Holocene lava domes and cinder cones. The highland reaches a height of 1800–2000m up to 3000m in the dividing ridge. Andranik Hovsepyan
Andranik Ozanian, commonly known as General Andranik or simply Andranik;. Also spelled Antranik or Antranig 25 February 186531 August 1927), was an Armenian military commander and statesman, the best known '' fedayi'' and a key figure of the Armenian national liberation movement. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, he was one of the main Armenian leaders of military efforts for the independence of Armenia. He became active in an armed struggle against the Ottoman government and Kurdish irregulars in the late 1880s. FC Van Yerevan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Վան Երևան), is a defunct Armenian football club from the capital Yerevan, founded in 1990. History This club is named in honor of the Armenian historic city of Van, which was once the capital of the Urartu Kingdom. The club participated in the first Armenian soccer championship, which took fifth place overall. During the six seasons the club has always participated in the Premier League.
