The 1992–93 season was the 113th season of competitive football by Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 64 competitive matches during the 1992–93 season. They completed the club's fifth domestic treble. The team finished first in the Scottish Premier Division and collected the fifth of their nine league titles in a row, after winning 33 of their 44 league games. Influential England international midfielder Trevor Steven returned to Ibrox from Marseille for a fee of £2.4m. In domestic competition, Aberdeen were Rangers closest challengers. Finishing runners-up in the league and finalists in both cup competitions. The league title was secured with a 1–0 win away to Airdrieonians in North Lanarkshire. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The newspaper was controlled by Tony O'Reilly's Irish Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to the Russian oligarch and former KGB Officer Alexander Lebedev in 2010. John Spencer (Scottish Footballer)
John Spencer (born 11 September 1970) is a Scottish former professional footballer and coach. As a player, he was a forward from 1988 until 2004, notably in the English Premier League for Chelsea and Everton and the Scottish Premier League for Motherwell. He also played in his native country for Rangers and Morton, in Hong Kong for Lai Sun and in the English Football League with Queens Park Rangers. He finished his career in the United States with a three-year spell with the Colorado Rapids. He also earned 14 caps for Scotland. Since retiring from playing in 2004, Spencer has remained in America, and was assistant coach of Houston Dynamo before becoming head coach of the Portland Timbers in 2011 until being relieved of his coaching position on 9 July 2012. David McKellar
David Norwood McKellar (born 22 May 1956) is a Scottish retired professional footballer, best remembered for his time as a goalkeeper in the Football League with Carlisle United, for whom he made 160 appearances for the club over two spells. In a long career, he played in all four divisions of the English league pyramid and the top three divisions in Scotland. McKellar later managed in Scottish junior and amateur football. Trevor McGregor Steven (born 21 September 1963) is an English former professional footballer who played as a right-sided midfielder. He progressed through the ranks at Burnley, making his debut in 1981 and becoming a regular supplier of goals over the next two seasons. Everton boss Howard Kendall, who was building a new team based on youth, decided to make a bid for him. He became known as a member of the successful Everton side of the 1980s and went on to be part of the Rangers ' 9-in-a-row' team. Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Alistair Espie Maxwell (born 16 February 1965) is a Scottish football coach and former professional footballer. He is currently a youth coach for SC Del Sol Soccer Club in the United States, having previously played for Motherwell, Rangers and Dundee United, and coached Greenock Morton and US side Sereno Golden Eagles.
