1992–93 Belarusian First League
1992–93 Belarusian First League was the second season of 2nd level football championship in Belarus. It started in August 1992 and ended in June 1993. Team changes from 1992 season The winners of last season ( Dinamo-2 Minsk) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League, which became possible after they split from their parent team Dinamo Minsk. No teams relegated directly from the Premier League as it was temporary expanded from 16 to 17 teams. One team that finished at the bottom of 1992 season table ( Stankostroitel Smorgon) relegated to the Second League. To compensate for Premier League expansion, they were replaced by two best teams of 1992 Second League (Smena Minsk and Albertin Slonim). Luch Minsk and Orbita Minsk (who finished 12th and 15th last season) withdrew from the league to amateur lever due to lack of financing. Belarusian First League
The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). On several occasions the number of participating teams was smaller (15 or 14), due to last minute withdrawals and no teams available for replacement. In most of the seasons, two best teams are getting promoted to Belarusian Premier League, while two worst teams are relegated Belarusian Second League. FC Orbita Minsk
FC Orbita Minsk is a Belarusian football club based in Minsk. History Orbita played in the Belarusian SSR league from 1974 to 1991. The most successful season was 1984, when the team won the league. In 1992 the team played in Belarusian First League, but withdrew to amateur level the next year. FC Viktoriya Maryina Gorka
FC Viktoriya Maryina Gorka is a Belarusian football club based in Maryina Gorka (Maryina Horka), Minsk Region. History The team was founded in 1990 as FC Belarus Maryina Gorka and until 1991, they played in the lower levels of the Belarusian SSR league. In 1992, Belarus joined the newly created Belarusian First League. After the 1992–93 season, Belarus withdrew to amateur level due to lack of funds. They returned to the professional level in 1996, when they changed their name to Energiya-TEC-5 Maryina Gorka and joined the Belarusian Second League. The next year, Energiya-TEC-5 relocated to the neighbour village Druzhny, and after the end of the 1997 season, the team was disbanded. FC Vitebsk-2 is a Belarusian football club from Vitebsk. The club acts as a reserve team for FC Vitebsk. History During Soviet era the team was known as KIM-2 Vitebsk, while the main was called KIM Vitebsk. Until 1991 KIM-2 played in Belarusian SSR League. In 1992 KIM-2 was included in newly created Belarusian First League, while their parent team KIM Vitebsk joined Belarusian Premier League . FC Svetlogorsk is a Belarusian football club based in Svetlogorsk, Gomel Voblast. FC Slavia Mozyr ( be, ФК Славія Мазыр, ''FK Slavija Mazyr'') is a Belarusian football team, based in Mozyr, Belarus. History The team was founded in 1987 as Polesie Mozyr. Between 1987 and 1991, they played in the Belarusian SSR league. From 1992 till 1995, they played in the Belarusian First League. They changed their name to MPKC Mozyr since the 1994–95 season. MPKC stands for the Mozyr Industrial-Commercial Center. They won the First League the same year and made their debut in the Belarusian Premier League in fall 1995 season. Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier.
