German Television
Television in Germany began in Berlin on 22 March 1935, broadcasting for 90 minutes three times a week. It was home to the first public television station in the world, named ''Fernsehsender Paul Nipkow''. In 2000, the German television market had approximately 36.5 million television households, making it the largest television market in Europe. Nowadays, 95% of German households have at least one television receiver. All the main German TV channels are free-to-air. ''TaleSpin'' is an American animated television series first aired in 1990 as a preview on Disney Channel and later that year as part of ''The Disney Afternoon''. It features characters adapted from Disney's 1967 animated feature ''The Jungle Book'' (namely, some of the film's animals being given an anthropomorphic makeover while the humans are removed), which was theatrically rereleased in the summer before this show premiered in the fall. Namely Baloo the Bear, Louie the orangutan, and Shere Khan the tiger, along with new characters created for the show. The name of the show is a play on "tailspin", the rapid descent of an aircraft in a steep spiral, and on the fact that ''tale'' is another word for "story". The Magician Trilogy
''The Magician Trilogy'' is a series of three children's fantasy novels by the British author Jenny Nimmo, first published by Methuen 1986 to 1989. It is sometimes called the Snow Spider trilogy or series after the first book and ''The Snow Spider Trilogy'' is the title of its omnibus editions (1991 and later). The stories are inspired by Welsh mythology, with elements borrowed from ''Mabinogion''. Set in contemporary Wales, they feature Gwyn Griffiths, a boy descended from Gwydion who discovers and develops some of the magical power in his lineage. Lamb Chop's Play-Along
''Lamb Chop's Play-Along!'' is a half-hour preschool children's television series that was shown on PBS in the United States from January 13, 1992 until September 22, 1995, with reruns airing on PBS until January 4, 1998, and on KTV FAVE - KIDZ 2019. It was created and hosted by puppeteer Shari Lewis, and featured her puppet characters Lamb Chop, Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy. ''Lamb Chop's Play-Along!'' was followed by the short-lived spin-off series, '' The Charlie Horse Music Pizza''. Production PBS commissioned the show from Shari Lewis in May 1991, and the show premiered in January 1992. This marked Lewis' return to television after about 15 years (following the BBC version of ''The Shari Lewis Show'' in 1975). ''Wish Kid'' is an animated television series that originally aired on Saturday mornings from September 14, 1991, through July 1992 on NBC starring Macaulay Culkin. It was produced by DIC Animation City and Italian company Reteitalia S.p.A., in association with Spanish network Telecinco. A second series was planned for 1993 to air on The Family Channel, but this was later cancelled. SWR Fernsehen is a German regional television channel targeting the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. It is produced by Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and is one of eight regional "third channels" broadcast by the ARD members. History The channel started on 5 April 1969 as a collaboration between Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR), Südwestfunk (SWF) and SR named "Südwest 3". SDR and SWF merged in 1998 to form SWR and the channel was renamed "Südwest Fernsehen". The name "SWR Fernsehen" was adopted in September 2006.
