1992 Supercopa Libertadores
The 1992 Supercopa Libertadores was the fifth season of the Supercopa Libertadores, a club football tournament for past Copa Libertadores winners. The tournament was won by Cruzeiro, who beat Racing 4–1 on aggregate in the final. This was the second time Cruzeiro had won the Supercopa Libertadores. As the new reigning Copa Libertadores champions, Brazilian side São Paulo were admitted into the competition. Colombian side Atlético Nacional took part for the first time in 3 seasons. First round The matches were played from 29 September to 15 October. Quarter finals The matches were played from 20 October to 30 October. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Claudio Omar ''Turco'' García (born 24 August 1963 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine former international footballer who played as a winger. García started his professional career in 1981 with Club Atlético Huracán in Buenos Aires. He stayed with the club until their relegation from the Argentine Primera at the end of the 1985-1986 season. García joined Vélez Sársfield where he played until 1988, then signed for Lyon in France. Ruben Wálter Paz Márquez (born 8 August 1959) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Paz played at two FIFA World Cups for Uruguay and was also South American Footballer of the Year in 1988. He retired in 2006 at the age of 47. He's currently Peñarol's assistant coach. Gustavo Adolfo Costas Makeira (born 28 February 1963) is an Argentine football manager and former player who played as a defender. He is the current manager of the Bolivia national team. Playing career Born in Buenos Aires, Costas started his playing career in 1982 with Racing Club, in 1983 the club suffered a disastrous relegation from the Primera División. Costas became a key part of the team that won promotion back to the Primera in 1985. In 1988 Costas was part of the Racing Club team that won the Supercopa Sudamericana, their first major title in 21 years, they then went on to win the less prestigious Supercopa Interamaricana. Carlos Ángel Roa (born 15 August 1969) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is the current goalkeeper coach of Greek Super League club AEK Athens.
