Joan Gardner (microbiologist)
Joan Forrest Gardner (16 June 1918 – 19 November 2013) was an Australian microbiologist who had an extensive career researching and teaching in the areas of disinfection, infection control, and sterilisation. Early life and education Gardner was born in 1918 into a distinguished medical and scientific family. Her uncle was Nobel laureate Howard Florey; her mother, Hilda Josephine Gardner, was a leading bacteriologist, serologist and hematologist in Melbourne; and her father, Jack Gardner, was a physician and army medical officer during World War I. Robert Allman
Robert Edward Joseph Allman (8 June 19274 December 2013) was an Australian operatic bass-baritone. Biography Robert Allman was born in Melbourne in 1927. He studied in Paris and sang at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden for three seasons from 1955. He then moved to Germany, where he sang in over a dozen opera houses. He also sang in opera houses including Zurich, New Orleans, Singapore and Vienna. In 1965, he sang with the Sutherland-Williamson Opera Company on its tour of Australia, alongside Joan Sutherland herself, Luciano Pavarotti, Lauris Elms, Margreta Elkins and others. He then became a Principal Artist with Opera Australia, where he remained for the rest of his career. He sang in eleven roles alongside Sutherland. John Hartley (general)
Major General John Curtis Hartley, (born 5 January 1943) is an Australian defence and intelligence strategist and a retired officer of the Australian Army. He joined the army via the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1962, was commissioned into the Royal Australian Infantry Corps and spent much of his career in military intelligence. He twice deployed on operations during the Vietnam War, during which he was Mentioned in Despatches on two occasions and seriously wounded, and commanded the Albury–Wodonga Military Area and the Army Apprentices' School (1984–87). Robert Duncan Somervaille AO (29 October 1921 – 14 April 2008) was an Australian lawyer and company director. He was born in Strathfield and was educated at The Scots College and Scotch College. John Rodney Niland (born 10 September 1940) is an Australian academic and board director. Niland obtained a Bachelor and Master of Commerce from UNSW and his PhD is from the University of Illinois. Ian George Medcalf AO ED QC (12 July 1918 – 1 May 2011) was an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1968 to 1986. He served as Attorney-General of Western Australia from 1975 to 1983, in the governments of Sir Charles Court and Ray O'Connor. John Neil McCallum, (14 March 19183 February 2010) was an Australian theatre and film actor, highly successful in the United Kingdom. He was also a television producer. Early life McCallum's father, John Neil McCallum Sr., was a theatre owner and entrepreneur, who built and for many years ran the 2,000 seat Cremorne Theatre on the banks of the Brisbane River. Jack Lee (judge)
Jack Austell Lee (1 July 1922 – 17 May 2006) was an Australian barrister and judge. Lee was born in Wellington. He studied law at the University of Sydney and worked as a solicitor before being called to the Bar in 1945. Taking silk in 1961, he was appointed a justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1966.
