The 1992 AFL draft is the annual draft of talented players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League. It consisted of the main national draft, the pre-season draft and the trade period. The Australian Football League draft is the annual draft of unsigned players, especially new nominations, by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League (AFL). History When the competition was known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), the league introduced the first incarnation of a draft system in 1981, where teams had two selections each of interstate players determined by reverse finishing position order. The draft was introduced as an equalisation strategy in response to the increasing transfer fees and player salaries at the time, which in combination with declining attendances threatened to derail the league. The Adelaide Crows (officially the Adelaide Football Club) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1990. James McLure (footballer)
James McLure (born 18 September 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in three games for Geelong in the Australian Football League (AFL) in 1995. He was initially drafted to Collingwood in the AFL in the 1992 Mid Year Draft. He was delisted by Collingwood at the end of the 1993 season without having played a senior game. He was then recruited to Geelong with a pre-draft supplementary selection in the 1994 AFL Draft. He played in three games for Geelong in 1995, but was delisted at the end of the season. He then moved to South Australia where he played over 100 games for Woodville-West Torrens. He has completed a PhD in clinical pharmacology. Epping Football Club is an Australian rules football club located in the suburb of Epping in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. David Johnston (Australian Footballer)
David Johnston (born 10 April 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and Fitzroy in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). A half back, Johnston represented Victoria in the 1985 Teal Cup, during which time he played Under-19s football for Essendon. He was playing for the Doutta Stars when he made it into Essendon's senior list and made his VFL debut in 1987. Johnston found it difficult to establish a place in the Essendon defence due to the strength of the team and never played more than half a season. He appeared in the last six games of the 1990 home and away season but wasn't picked in the finals, where Essendon were grand final losers.
