1990–91 S.L. Benfica Season
The 1990–91 season was Sport Lisboa e Benfica's 87th season in existence and the club's 57th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football, covering the period from 1 July 1990 to 30 June 1991. Benfica competed domestically in the Primeira Divisão and the Taça de Portugal, and participated in the UEFA Cup after finishing second in the previous league. With only a Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira won in the past season, Benfica was keen on retake the Primeira Divisão title again. They were quickly eliminated from Europe at the hands of Roma, so all attentions were pointed on the league title. A strong campaign witnessed Benfica overtake Porto in February and then close the title with an away win in the Clássico, a controversial match because of the tactics employed by Porto to destabilize the team. João Santos (chairman)
João Maria dos Santos Júnior (3 December 1914 – 15 February 2005), commonly known as João Santos, was a Portuguese businessman who served as the 28th president of sports club S.L. Benfica, succeeding Fernando Martins. Born on 3 December 1914 in Lisbon, Santos was elected president of Benfica on 27 March 1987. Bola De Prata (Portugal)
The Bola de Prata ( Portuguese for ''Silver Ball'') is a Primeira Liga award for the top scorer. In case two or more players have the same number of goals, the award goes to the footballer with the fewest games played. It was first awarded as a prize in the 1952–53 season by sports newspaper ''A Bola''. Héctor Yazalde holds the record for most goals in a single season, with 46, achieved in the 1973–74 season. Fernando Peyroteo recorded the highest goals-to-games ratio to win the award, 2.43, in 1937–38. There have been 52 winners. Seventeen players have won the award in more than one occasion, with Eusébio having the record with seven wins. Eusébio also holds the record for most consecutive wins, with five. Stefan Schwarz
Hans-Jürgen Stefan Schwarz (born 18 April 1969) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Schwarz started off his career with Malmö FF in 1987 before moving on to represent Benfica, Arsenal, Fiorentina, and Valencia until he retired at Sunderland in 2003. Schwarz won 69 caps for the Sweden national team, scoring 6 goals. William Amaral de Andrade (born 27 December 1967), known simply as William, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a central defender. Playing career William was born in Rio de Janeiro. During his extensive career he played most notably for S.L. Benfica, from where he arrived in 1990 after spells at two other Portuguese clubs, C.D. Nacional and Vitória de Guimarães. Aldair Nascimento dos Santos (; born 30 November 1965), known simply as Aldair, is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a defender, and who was part of the Brazil national team that won the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Considered as one of Brazil's greatest defenders ever, he spent most of his professional career at Italian club A.S.
