The 1990 Montreal Expos season was the 22nd season in franchise history. An 85-77 record was good enough to put them in 3rd place and 10 games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rodger Brulotte
Rodger Brulotte (Born January 4, 1947 in Montreal) is a Major League Baseball broadcaster. His career with the Montreal Expos organization started in 1969, working in sales and marketing. He contributed to the creation of the Youppi mascot. In 1984, he was hired by CKAC to serve as Color commentator alongside Jacques Doucet. In 1990, he moved to RDS where he called Expos games with his colleague Denis Casavant until the team's demise in 2004. He is famous for the line "Bonsoir, elle est partie!" (Good night, it is gone) which he said when the Expos hit a home run. Brulotte and Casavant continued to call baseball games on RDS, though coverage is now limited. He now calls Toronto Blue Jays games on TVA Sports alongside Doucet. He writes an article entitled “Tout partout” in Le Journal de Montréal. West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium
West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium, referred to as "Municipal Stadium," is a former baseball park in the southeastern United States, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Located at 755 Hank Aaron Drive, it was the long-time spring training home for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos. The Braves played spring training games at the stadium from 1963 to 1997, while the Expos played there from 1969 to 1972 and from 1981 to 1997. The stadium was constructed in 1962 to replace midtown Connie Mack Field, which had been the West Palm Beach spring training home of the Philadelphia and Kansas City Athletics from 1946 to 1962. Spring Training
Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for Schedule (workplace), roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Keith Rowe Atherton (born February 19, 1959), is an American former professional baseball pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB), primarily in relief, from –. Atherton played for the Oakland Athletics (–), Minnesota Twins (–), and Cleveland Indians (). Biography Atherton attended Mathews High School in Virginia and was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1978 Major League Baseball draft by Oakland. He debuted with the A's on July 14, 1983, and appeared in 29 games that season. He continued with Oakland for two more seasons pitching over 100 innings in both 1984 and 1985, all in relief. Dennis Ray "Oil Can" Boyd (born October 6, 1959) is a former starting pitcher in Major League Baseball. Boyd played for the Boston Red Sox (1982–1989), Montreal Expos (1990–1991), and Texas Rangers (1991). Montreal Expos
The Montreal Expos (french: link=no, Les Expos de Montréal) were a Canadian professional baseball team based in Montreal, Quebec. The Expos were the first Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise located outside the United States. They played in the National League (NL) East division from 1969 until 2004. Following the 2004 season, the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C., and became the Washington Nationals. Immediately after the minor league Triple-A Montreal Royals folded in 1960, political leaders in Montreal sought an MLB franchise, and when the National League evaluated expansion candidates for the 1969 season, it awarded a team to Montreal. CKAC is a French-language radio station located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Owned by Cogeco, the station operates as a commercial traffic information service branded as ''Radio Circulation 730''. Its studios are located at Place Bonaventure in Downtown Montreal, and its transmitter is located in Saint-Joseph-du-Lac. Elliott Price
Elliott Price is a Canadian sportscaster. He was most recently the host of the morning show of CJCL 590 in Toronto from early 2017 until January, 2019. A graduate of John Abbott College, Price started his radio career in 1982 at CJAD in Montreal. At CJAD, he did play-by-play for the Montreal Alouettes in 1986 and was the Montreal Expos pre- and post-game host from 1989-1990. When the Expos left CJAD, Price moved to CFCF where he was Sports Director and a fill-in play-by-play announcer for games Dave Van Horne called on television.
