1989 European Competition For Women's Football
The 1989 European Competition for Women's Football took place in West Germany. It was won by the hosts in a final against defending champions Norway. Again, the competition began with four qualifying groups, but this time the top two countries qualified for a home-and-away quarter final, before the four winners entered the semi-finals in the host nation. Sissel Grude
Sissel Grude (born 17 February 1967) is a Norwegian former footballer, who made 14 appearances for the Norway women's national football team. At club level, she played for Norwegian teams Ålgård FK and Klepp IL. Club career Grude played for Ålgård FK in the Norwegian 2. divisjon. In 1984, she was part of the Ålgård team that lost the regional Rogaland Cup Final 6–3 to Klepp IL. It was Grude's final match for Ålgård, as she signed for Klepp later in 1984. Grude scored 12 goals for Klepp in the 1987 1. divisjon, as Klepp won the league. She scored 16 goals in the 1988 1. divisjon, and 18 goals in the 1989 1. divisjon. She scored two goals in the 1989 Norwegian Women's Cup Final, as Klepp beat Trondheims-Ørn 2–1 to win the competition. Grude retired from football in Autumn 1989, at the age of 22. Linda Medalen
Linda Medalen (born 17 June 1965) is a former Norwegian footballer. She is one of Norway's most celebrated former footballers, finishing her international career with 152 caps, scoring 64 goals. She was on the Norway team that won the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup. She played most of her career in Norway with Asker Fotball, and retired in 2006, at 41 years old. She also spent seven seasons in Japan with Nikko. She started her career as a striker, but as her career progressed, she moved further back on the field, and was playing toward the end of her career in central defence. Apart from playing football, Medalen worked as a police officer. In 2007, she was elected to serve as a local politician in Asker municipality council for the Conservative Party. Lena Videkull
Lena Mari Anette Videkull (born 6 December 1962) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 111 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring 71 goals. Videkull can be seen in the Sveriges Television documentary television series '' The Other Sport'' from 2013. Club career Videkull won the Damallsvenskan championship six times in her career. She was the league's top goalscorer on a record six occasions. International career Videkull made her senior Sweden debut in the final of the first UEFA championships for national women's teams in May 1984. Sweden beat England 1–0 in the first leg at Ullevi, then prevailed in a penalty shootout at Kenilworth Road, Luton after a 1–0 defeat. Federica D'Astolfo (born 27 October 1966) is an Italian football coach and former midfielder. She played for Italy at the 1991 and 1999 editions of the FIFA Women's World Cup. Carolina Morace
Carolina Morace (; born 5 February 1964) is an Italian former footballer who played as a striker and is the current head coach of Lazio Women. She played for the Italian national team and for various clubs in women's Serie A. She was the top scorer in Serie A in the 1984–85 season, and for 11 consecutive years from 1987–88 to 1997–98. She is also a registered lawyer. After retiring as a player, she began a managing career with Lazio. She then managed the Italian national team from 2000 to 2005, and the Canadian national women's team from 2009 to 2011. Feriana Ferraguzzi
Feriana "Fery" Ferraguzzi (born 20 February 1959) is an Italian football coach and former midfielder, who is currently the technical director of BeNe League club Standard Fémina de Liège. A box-to-box midfielder, Ferraguzzi won two Serie A titles with SS Lazio in 1979 and 1980 before accepting a transfer offer from Standard Fémina de Liège of 2,000,000 lire plus accommodation. An administrative error by Lazio meant that Ferraguzzi moved to Standard Fémina with no transfer fee. Lazio complained to FIFA and got her banned from the national team for two years. Overall, Ferraguzzi was a member of the Italy women's national football team from 1975 until 1993, and scored Italy's first official World Cup goal in 1991. Marion Isbert
Marion Isbert (born 25 February 1964 as Marion Feiden) is a former German international football player. The goalkeeper was capped 58 times for Germany. She won two German championships with TSV Siegen. Club career Isbert's career started at TuS Ahrbach. In 1989, she reached the final of the German championship, but Ahrbach failed to qualify for the Bundesliga at its inception one year later. She then switched to TSV Siegen, winning the championship in 1991 and 1992. Siegen also came close to winning the cup in both seasons, losing out in finals to Grün-Weiß Brauweiler and FSV Frankfurt.
