The 1988 French Open was a tennis tournament that took place on the outdoor clay courts at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. The tournament was held from 23 May until 5 June. It was the 92nd staging of the French Open, and the second Grand Slam tennis event of 1988. John Basil Fitzgerald OAM (born 28 December 1960) is a former professional tennis player from Australia who played right-handed with a single-handed backhand. Playing career During his career, he won 6 top-tier singles titles and 30 tour doubles titles, including 7 Grand Slam doubles titles. He also achieved the career men's doubles Grand Slam (winning all four titles-the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open). Cristiano Caratti (born 24 May 1970) is a former ATP Tour tennis player from Italy. He reached the quarterfinals of the 1991 Australian Open and the 1991 Miami Masters. Todd Andrew Woodbridge, OAM (born 2 April 1971) is an Australian former professional tennis player and current sports broadcaster with the Nine Network. Woodbridge is best known for his successful Doubles partnerships with Mark Woodforde (nicknamed "The Woodies") and later Jonas Björkman. Andrea M. Farley (born September 30, 1971) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Farley won four state high school singles championships, a record for any player (male or female). She was a junior singles finalist at the 1988 French Open and was also the junior runner-up at the 1989 Australian Open. Farley, who reached a career high ranking of 118 in the world, featured in the main draw of all grand slam tournaments except Wimbledon, although she did play there as a junior. Julie Halard-Decugis (born 10 September 1970) is a French former professional tennis player. Michiel Schapers (born 11 October 1959) is a former tennis player from the Netherlands. Tennis career Turning professional in 1982, Schapers represented his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, where he was defeated in quarterfinals by eventual winner Miloslav Mečíř of Czechoslovakia.
