1988 Brazilian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1988 Brazilian motorcycle Grand Prix was the last round of the 1988 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 15–17 September 1988 at the Goiânia circuit. 500 cc race report Wayne Gardner was on pole, but Eddie Lawson got into the lead at the start, ahead of Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz. Back in 6th place, Gardner was almost cut off by Pierfrancesco Chili, who tried a block pass on him; Gardner shook a fist. Schwantz got around Lawson for 1st, but Lawson looked like he's not going to let it go. Gardner caught up to make it a trio, while Lawson retook the lead. Randy Mamola was hot-dogging, deliberately sliding the rear. Schwantz and Gardner went at it for 2nd place. Mamola almost highsided trying to impress the crowd, a bit later on a left-hander he looked over his shoulder and immediately slid the bike into a highside. Niall Mackenzie
Niall Macfarlane Mackenzie (born 19 July 1961) is a Scottish former professional motorcycle road racer. Career Mackenzie, who hails from Fankerton, near Denny, Stirlingshire; won the British Superbike Championship three times from 1996 to 1998 with the Rob McElnea-run Yamaha team, and the British 250cc and 350cc titles twice earlier in his career. He had a long career in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing circuit, debuting in 1984 in the 250cc class. He moved up to the 500cc class in 1986 on a Suzuki before spells on Honda and Yamaha motorcycles. He was 4th in the championship in 1990, and finished in the top 10 in the championship on five other occasions. His final racing season was the 2000 British Superbike series, although he did a farewell one-off at Knockhill in 2001 and stood in for the injured Yukio Kagayama at Donington Park in 2003. Cagiva is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer. It was founded in 1950 by Giovanni Castiglioni in Varese, originally producing small metal components. Giovanni's sons, Claudio and Gianfranco Castiglioni, went into the motorcycle industry in 1978. The name is a portmanteau derived from the founder's name 'Giovanni Castiglioni' and the founding location, i.e. ''CAstiglioni GIovanni VArese''. In its history, Cagiva won races in Dakar and Motocross competitions, as well as in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Bruno Kneubühler
Bruno Kneubühler (born 3 December 1946) is a Swiss former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He competed in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championships from 1972 to 1989. During his career, he competed in every Grand Prix class from 50 cc to 500cc. Motorcycle racing career In his first Grand Prix season in 1972, Kneubühler finished the 500cc season in third place behind the dominant MV Agusta factory racing team of Giacomo Agostini and Alberto Pagani. Ronald Haslam (born 22 June 1956) is an English former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who had been racing for over thirty years, winning two World titles, four British championships and having ridden in almost 110 GPs. Haslam spends much of his time helping his son Leon Haslam in his racing career and previously trained riders and racers alike at his former Race School based at Donington racetrack, Leicestershire. Francisco Gonzales
Francisco Paula Gonzales (1936 – 7 May 1964) was a Filipino sailor and mass murderer. He competed in the Dragon event together with Fausto Preysler and Jesus Villareal at the 1960 Summer Olympics. After the Olympics he moved to San Francisco, United States. At some point, his wife requested a divorce and he fell into debt. He flew to Reno, Nevada on 6 May 1964. The next day Gonzales was on his return flight: Pacific Air Lines Flight 773. He shot and killed both pilots, and then himself.
