The 1987–88 season was the 108th season of competitive Association football, football by Rangers F.C., Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 58 competitive matches during the 1987–88 season. The team finished a disappointing third in the Scottish Premier Division with 60 points, two behind Heart of Midlothian F.C., Hearts and twelve behind champions Celtic F.C., Celtic. Future club captain Richard Gough was signed from Tottenham Hotspur for a club record fee of £1.1m. In the cup competitions, they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup in the fourth round, losing 2–0 away to Dunfermline Athletic F.C., Dunfermline Athletic. Football Club Dynamo Kyiv (, ) is a Ukrainian professional football club based in Kyiv. Founded in 1927 as a Kyivan football team of republican branch of the bigger Soviet Dynamo Sports Society, the club as a separate business entity was officially formed only in 1989 and currently plays in the Ukrainian Premier League, and has never been relegated to a lower division. John Brown (footballer, Born 1962)
John Brown (born 26 January 1962) is a Scottish former professional footballer who also worked as a manager. Brown played for Hamilton Academical, Dundee and Rangers, primarily as a central defender but also as a left full-back or defensive midfielder. Brown was a first team regular for Rangers as they won eight consecutive Scottish League championships between 1988 and 1996. After retiring as a player, he became a coach and has managed Clyde and Dundee. Known for his combative playing style, he is often referred to by the nickname "Bomber". Mark Everton Walters (born 2 June 1964) is an English former professional footballer who made 600 league appearances between 1981 and 2002. Richard Gough
Charles Richard Gough (born 5 April 1962) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a defender. Gough played in the successful Dundee United team of the early 1980s, winning the Scottish league title in 1982–83 and reaching the European Cup semi-final in 1984. Gough joined Tottenham Hotspur in 1986 and captained them in the 1987 FA Cup Final. He then moved to Rangers and captained them to nine successive Scottish league titles. He subsequently had spells with Kansas City Wizards, Rangers again, San Jose Clash, Nottingham Forest (on loan) and Everton. Trevor John Francis (born 19 April 1954) is an English former footballer who played as a forward for a number of clubs in England, the United States, Italy, Scotland and Australia. In 1979 he became Britain's first £1 million player following his transfer from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest. Mark Peter Falco (born 22 October 1960) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker for a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Watford, Rangers and Queens Park Rangers. Career Falco was born in Bethnal Green, London. Having spent his early years as a prolific goalscorer for Fields United, a youth team in the London Borough of Hackney, Falco started his professional career as a junior at Tottenham Hotspur.
