1987–88 Brentford F.C. Season
During the 1987–88 English football season, Brentford competed in the Football League Third Division. The Bees contended for a place in the play-offs until a run of just two wins from the final 17 matches of the season dropped the club into mid-table. Season summary After taking over as Brentford manager in January 1987, Steve Perryman continued the remodelling of his squad through the 1987 off-season.White, p. 334-336. Brentford is a suburban town in West London, England and part of the London Borough of Hounslow. It lies at the confluence of the River Brent and the Thames, west of Charing Cross. Philip Thomas Bater (born 26 October 1955) is a Welsh former professional footballer turned manager who was recently in charge of Mangotsfield United. Originally from Cardiff, Bater began his career as an apprentice with Bristol Rovers in 1973. Paul Williams (footballer, Born 1965)
Paul Anthony Williams (born 16 August 1965) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who played as a striker. As a player he made 300 appearances in the Premier League for Crystal Palace as well as in the Football League for Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Birmingham City, Torquay United and Southend United. He retired in 2000 whilst with Non-league side Canvey Island. He was capped by England at under-21 and B international level. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. Gary Blissett
Gary Blissett (born 29 June 1964) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward. He notably played in the Premier League for Wimbledon, and in the Football League for Crewe Alexandra, Brentford and Wycombe Wanderers. He finished his career in Singapore and Germany with Sembawang Rangers and SV Elversberg respectively. Career Blissett scored over 100 league goals for Crewe Alexandra and Brentford. Keith Jones (English Footballer)
Keith Aubrey Jones (born 14 October 1965) is an English retired professional footballer, best remembered for his time as a midfielder in the Football League with Brentford and Charlton Athletic. He also played for Southend United, Chelsea, Reading and was capped by England at youth level. He later became a youth and women's coach. Ian Holloway
Ian Scott Holloway (born 12 March 1963) is an English professional football manager, former player, media personality and television pundit who was most recently the manager of Grimsby Town. A midfielder, he notably played in the Premier League with Queens Park Rangers where he made just under 150 league appearances in a five-year spell. He spent most of his career at boyhood club Bristol Rovers where he had three spells which included the start and finish of his playing career. James Gerald Murray (born 27 December 1958) is a Scottish retired professional footballer who played as a left back in the Football League for Cambridge United, Brentford and Sunderland. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The player can then go on to sign for any club offering a contract to them. How it works The club acquiring the player does not have to pay any compensation for their release due to having nothing left to pay on their contract, hence, the term free transfer. Francis Joseph (6 March 1960 – 18 November 2022) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward for a large number of clubs in the Football League, including Wimbledon, Brentford, Reading, Sheffield United, Crewe Alexandra, Fulham, Barnet and Gillingham, between 1980 and 1992. He also spent time playing outside the United Kingdom, including spells with Honka, JYP 77 and HJK Helsinki in Finland, Racing Ghent in Belgium and Tampa Bay Rowdies in the United States.
