1987 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 1987 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the second edition of the Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was held at the Picketts Lock in London, England from 3 to 13 September 1987. The defending champions the Netherlands won their second title by defeating the hosts England 3–1 in penalty strokes after the match finished 2–2 after extra time. The Soviet Union won the bronze medal by defeating West Germany 2–1. The 1987 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the fifth edition of the Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship, the quadrennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organized by the European Hockey Federation. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game.
