1987 Jarama 4 Hours
The 1987 Jarama 4 Hours was the second round of the inaugural World Touring Car Championship. The race was held for cars eligible for Group A touring car regulations. It was held on April 19, 1987, at the Circuit of Jarama, in Madrid, Spain. The race was won by Emanuele Pirro and Roberto Ravaglia, driving a BMW M3. The Circuito del Jarama (Circuit of Jarama), formerly known as ''Circuito Permanente del Jarama'' (Permanent circuit of Jarama) is a motorsport racetrack located in San Sebastián de los Reyes, 20 miles (32 km) north of Madrid. It was home to the Spanish Grand Prix nine times between 1968 and 1981, and the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix 15 times between 1969 and 1988. Designed by John Hugenholtz (who also created Suzuka), the circuit was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967 on arid scrub land. Johnny Alberto Cecotto Persello (born 25 January 1956), better known as Johnny Cecotto, is a Venezuelan former professional Grand Prix motorcycle racer and auto racer. Niedzwiedz rose to prominence when driving a Ford Capri for Zakspeed in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft.
