The 1987 Pepsi Canadian Junior Curling Championships were held at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. It was the first Canadian Junior championship to hold both the men's and women's events in conjunction with one another. Pepsi
Pepsi is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by PepsiCo. Originally created and developed in 1893 by Caleb Bradham and introduced as Brad's Drink, it was renamed as Pepsi-Cola in 1898, and then shortened to Pepsi in 1961. History Pepsi was first invented in 1893 as "Brad's Drink" by Caleb Bradham, who sold the drink at his drugstore in New Bern, North Carolina. It was renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898, "Pepsi" because it was advertised to relieve dyspepsia (indigestion) and "Cola" referring to the cola flavor. Some have also suggested that "Pepsi" may have been a reference to the drink aiding digestion like the digestive enzyme pepsin, but pepsin itself was never used as an ingredient to Pepsi-Cola. Charlie Sullivan (curler)
Charles A. Sullivan, Jr. (born April 30, 1968) is a Canadian curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. He is a former World Junior curling champion, and a five time provincial champion. Career In 1987, playing third for his cousin Jim's rink out of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Sullivan won the New Brunswick junior provincial title earning him a right to represent New Brunswick at the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the Canadian Juniors, the New Brunswick team defeated Ontario's Wayne Middaugh 8- This qualified them to represent Canada at the 1988 World Junior Curling Championships, which they won. They beat Sweden's Peja Lindholm rink 4-2 in the final. The Jim Sullivan Rink was inducted into the NB Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. In 1990, the team won their first provincial men's championship. Jim Sullivan (curler)
James David Sullivan (January 6, 1968 - November 12, 2011) was a Canadian curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. He was a renowned curler, being skip of the Jim Sullivan Rink which captured the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships for New Brunswick, and the 1988 World Junior Curling Championships. Andrew James MacKay (born 27 August 1949) is a British Conservative Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Birmingham Stechford from 1977 to 1979, East Berkshire from 1983 to 1997 and for Bracknell in Berkshire from 1997 to 2010. Early life MacKay attended Solihull School, an independent school in Solihull, West Midlands. After leaving school he chaired the Solihull Young Conservatives. Career Corner was a member of the 1993 "dream team" of his cousin Wayne Middaugh and the brothers of Glenn and Russ Howard. Corner played lead for the team. All four players would skip teams to provincial championships in the future. In 1993, the team won the Brier and World Championship. Corner played in his first national championships at the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships playing third for Middaugh. The team lost in the final to New Brunswick's Jim Sullivan. Corner joined forces with the Howards in 1990, and qualified for their first Brier in 1991. However, at the 1991 Labatt Brier, the team missed the playoffs with a 6-5 record. Wayne Middaugh
Robert Wayne Middaugh (born September 20, 1967) is a Canadian curler. Born in Brampton, Ontario, Middaugh resides in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. He is the only player to have won the Canadian Men's Curling Championship (known as the Brier) at three different positions: skip (1998), third (2012), and second (1993). He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2020. He currently coaches the Anna Hasselborg rink from Sweden. Career Middaugh is a three-time world champion, once as second for Russ Howard in 1993, as a skip in 1998, and as third for Glenn Howard in 2012.
