1986–87 DDR-Oberliga
The 1986–87 DDR-Oberliga was the 38th season of the DDR-Oberliga, the first tier of league football in East Germany. The league was contested by fourteen teams. BFC Dynamo won the championship, the club's ninth of ten consecutive East German championships from 1978 to 1988. Frank Pastor of BFC Dynamo was the league's top scorer with 17 goals, while René Müller of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig took out the seasons East German Footballer of the year award. On the strength of the 1986–87 title BFC Dynamo qualified for the 1987–88 European Cup where the club was knocked out by Girondins de Bordeaux in the first round. Third-placed club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig qualified for the 1987–88 European Cup Winners' Cup as the seasons FDGB-Pokal winners and was knocked out by Olympique de Marseille first round. DDR-Oberliga
The DDR-Oberliga (English: ''East German Premier League'' or ''GDR Premier League'') was the top-level association football league in East Germany. Overview Following World War II, separate sports competitions emerged in the occupied eastern and western halves of Germany, replacing the ''Gauligas'' of the Nazi era. In East Germany, a top-flight football competition, the highest league in the East German football league system, was established in 1949 as the DS-Oberliga (''Deutscher Sportausschuss Oberliga'', German Sports Association Upper League). BSG Fortschritt Bischofswerda
The Bischofswerdaer FV 08 is a German association football club from the town of Bischofswerda, Saxony. The club's greatest success during play in the former East Germany was two seasons spend in the DDR-Oberliga in the 1980s, the highest level of play in the country, then under the name of BSG Fortschritt Bischofswerda. After the German reunion, now as Bischofswerdaer FV 08, the club became a founding member of the tier three Regionalliga Nordost in 1994 and played at this level for two seasons before being relegated again in 1996. BSG Stahl Riesa
BSG Stahl Riesa is a German association football club from Riesa in Saxony. History The club was founded as ''SC Riesa'' in 1903 in the cellar of the local pub "Bodega" and was renamed ''Riesaer SV'' two years later. In 1917, they fused with ''FC Wettin'' and went on to play quietly as a local club until 1936 when they advanced to the Gauliga Sachsen, one of sixteen divisions in the top flight of German football during the Third Reich. After World War II the club was dissolved and replaced by the ''SG Riesa'' in late 1945. BSG Stahl Brandenburg is a German association football club based in Brandenburg an der Havel, Brandenburg. History The club was formed in 1950 as ''BSG Einheit Brandenburg'' and played its earliest seasons in the II division of East German football. They took on the name ''BSG Stahl Brandenburg'' in 1955 to reflect the backing of the local steel company.
