1986 US Open – Men's Singles
Defending champion Ivan Lendl defeated Miloslav Mečíř in the final, 6–4, 6–2, 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1986 US Open. This was the first major in which future eight-time major champion Andre Agassi competed in the main draw. He would go on to play an Open Era record 21 consecutive US Open tournaments. Ivan Lendl
Ivan Lendl (; born March 7, 1960) is a Czech–American former professional tennis player. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Lendl was ranked world No. 1 in singles for 270 weeks and won 94 singles titles. He won eight major singles titles and was runner-up a joint record 11 times (tied with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic), making him the first man to contest 19 major finals. Lendl also contested a record eight consecutive US Open finals, and won seven year-end championships. Lendl is the only man in professional tennis history to have a match winning percentage of over 90% in five different years (1982, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1989). Anders Järryd
Anders Per Järryd (; born 13 July 1961) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. During his career he won eight Grand Slam doubles titles (three French Open, two Wimbledon, two US Open, one Australian Open), reached the world No. 1 doubles ranking, and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 5. Järryd was born in Lidköping, Västra Götaland. While growing up he also played bandy in Lidköpings AIK. Career Järryd turned professional in 1980. Kenneth Eliot Flach (May 24, 1963 – March 12, 2018) was an American doubles world No. 1 tennis player. He won four Grand Slam men's doubles titles (two Wimbledon and two US Open), and two mixed doubles titles (Wimbledon and the French Open). Brad Pearce (born March 21, 1966) is a former tennis player from the United States, who turned professional in 1986. He won four doubles titles during his career. The right-hander reached his highest singles Association of Tennis Professionals, ATP ranking on October 8, 1990, when he became the World No. 71. Milan Šrejber () (born 30 December 1963) is a former tennis player from Czechoslovakia, who represented his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
