The 1986 Southwest Conference women's basketball tournament was held March 5–8, 1986, at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. Number 1 seed 1985–86 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team, Texas defeated 2 seed 77–53 to win their fouth championship and receive the conference's automatic bid to the 1986 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, 1986 NCAA tournament. Moody Coliseum
Moody Coliseum is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena in University Park, Texas (an inner suburb of Dallas). The arena opened in 1956. It is home to the Southern Methodist University Mustangs basketball teams and volleyball team. It was also home to the Dallas Chaparrals and Texas Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association before they moved to San Antonio, Texas, as the San Antonio Spurs. It was also later the home for the Dallas Diamonds of the Women's Professional Basketball League. 1985–86 Texas Longhorns Women's Basketball Team
The 1985–86 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team represents the University of Texas at Austin in the 1985–86 college basketball season. It was head coach Jody Conradt's tenth season at Texas. The Longhorns were members of the Southwest Conference and played their home games at the Frank Erwin Center. Jody Conradt
Addie Jo "Jody" Conradt (born May 13, 1941) is a retired women's basketball coach. She was the head coach for the women's team at University of Texas at Austin (UT). Her coaching career spanned 38 years, with the last 31 years at UT from 1976 to 2007. She also served concurrently as the UT women's athletic director from 1992 to 2001. During her tenure at UT, she achieved several notable personal and team milestones in collegiate basketball. At retirement, she had tallied 900 career victories, second place in all time victories for an NCAA Division I basketball coach. Conradt was inducted in the inaugural class at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999. Beverly Williams (basketball)
Beverly Williams (born May 22, 1947) is a former news anchor from Philadelphia. Career Williams majored in Social Sciences at Portland State University and began her career at KGW-TV, KGW as a reporter. She then moved to Philadelphia in 1975 and joined KYW-TV as weekend anchor becoming the first black woman to anchor in the Philadelphia market. Williams was promoted to weekday noon anchor in 1979. In May 1981, she began co-anchoring the 6 and 11pm newscasts on weeknights alongside Patrick Emory. She left the station in November 1981. From 1981 to 1986, Beverly was reporter and anchor for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia. Williams took a brief two-year leave from television news but then joined WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut where she was weekend anchor.
