1986 Austral-Asia Cup
The 1986 Austral-Asia Cup was held in Sharjah, UAE, between April 10–18, 1986. Five national teams took part: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The 1986 Austral-Asia Cup was a knock-out tournament. Sri Lanka qualified automatically for the semi-finals by virtue of winning the 1986 Asia Cup. Despite losing their first-round match, New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals as the first-round loser with the lesser margin of defeat. Pakistan won the tournament, defeating India in the final, and won US$40,000. The tournament was played for the joint benefit of Vijay Hazare, Dilip Vengsarkar, Javed Miandad and Wazir Mohammad. One Day International
A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one day game is a late-twentieth-century development. Maninder Singh (cricketer)
Maninder Singh (born 13 June 1965) is a former Indian cricket player and a cricket commentator. Singh has represented India in 35 Test matches and 59 One Day Internationals. With his slow left-arm orthodox spin, Maninder was considered as an heir to Bishan Singh Bedi, who then held the record as India's leading spinner in terms of wickets. Maninder Singh retired prematurely due to personal reasons. Singh holds the Test record for the most Tests in a complete career without aggregating 100 runs. Ashantha De Mel
Ashantha Lakdasa Francis de Mel (born 9 May 1959) is a former Sri Lankan Test and ODI cricketer and selector for the national team. He bowled Sri Lanka's first ball in a Test match. He was one of few Sri Lanka bowlers in the 1980s above medium pace, and he was also said to have the ability to get the ball to swing out. In November 2018, he was named as the chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket's National Selection Panel. He previously served in the role in 2012. Chetan Sharma
Chetan Sharma (born 3 January 1966) is a former Indian cricketer and politician who played Tests and ODIs as a fast bowler for Indian cricket team. On 24 December 2020, he was elected as Chairman of the selection committee of Indian cricket team. Sharma was coached by Desh Prem Azad, a Dronacharya Award winner, who was also the mentor of Kapil Dev and is currently mentoring Venkatesh Iyer and Shardul Thakur. Deshabandu Asanka Pradeep Gurusinha (born 16 September 1966) is a Sri Lankan Australian former international cricketer who had an 11-year international career, playing 41 Tests and 147 One Day Internationals for Sri Lanka. He was a key member for 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team for Sri Lanka, who is a specialist batsman helped to win the 1996 World Cup final with 65 in a partnership of 125 with the final's Man of the Match, Aravinda de Silva. Ray Bright
Raymond James Bright (born 13 July 1954) is a former Australian Test and One Day International cricketer from Victoria. He was a left arm spin bowler and lower order batsman who captained Victoria for a number of seasons. He was also an Australian vice-captain. Bright made his One Day International debut for Australia on the tour of New Zealand in the 1973/74 season. He also toured New Zealand in the 1976–77 season, and he then toured England in 1977, and made his Test debut in the Second Test at Old Trafford. Over the next decade he was a fixture in the Australian squad without ever holding down a regular place in the Test or One Day teams, playing in only twenty-five Tests and eleven One Day Internationals during his twelve-year international career. Mudassar Nazar
Mudassar Nazar (Urdu: مدثر نذر; born 6 April 1956) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer with a career in Test cricket for Pakistan and in league cricket in Pakistan and England. He was an opening batsman who played 76 test and 122 one-day matches for Pakistan. After retiring from professional cricket, he has had a number of administrative positions in the cricketing world, including two stints as coach for Pakistan in 1993 and 2001, for Kenya and for several other teams. Tauseef Ahmed (born 10 May 1958) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played in 34 Test matches and 70 One Day Internationals between 1980 and 1993. Career Tauseef Ahmed made his first-class debut in early 1979 for Public Works Department against Pakistan International Airlines that was to remain his only first-class game for just over a year until his neighbor, Javed Sadiq, managed to get him a chance to bowl at the Pakistani tail-enders before the 1980 Karachi test against Australia. Greg Ritchie
Gregory Michael Ritchie (born 23 January 1960) is a former Australian international cricketer who played in 30 Tests matches and 44 One Day Internationals between 1982 and 1987. Ritchie played for Queensland between 1980 and 1992. He scored 10,170 runs in his first class cricket career at an average of 44.21 including 24 centuries and 54 fifties. David Archer (umpire)
David Myrton Archer (20 August 1931 – 24 October 1992) was a West Indian cricketer and umpire. He played first-class cricket for the Windward Islands but is best known for standing in 28 Test matches in the West Indies between 1981 and 1992. Career Born in Barbados, Archer was a right-hand batsman and slow left-arm bowler. In a club match in Barbados he took 17 wickets, including all ten in one innings. He made three first-class appearances for the Windward Islands. The first came against the touring Australians of 1964–65, when batting at number eleven he scored 11 not out and bowled 10 wicketless overs conceding 50 runs.
