1986 Amateur World Series
The 1986 Amateur World Series was the 29th Amateur World Series (AWS), an international Men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF). The tournament took place, for the first time, in the Netherlands, from July 19 to August 2, and was won by Cubaits 18th AWS victory. There were 12 participating countries. This was the last time the IBAF titled it as the AWS; the next ten competitions were held under the name Baseball World Cup, then was replaced in 2015 by the quadrennial WBSC Premier12. The 1984 Amateur World Series was the 28th Amateur World Series (AWS), an international men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation (which titled it the Baseball World Cup as of the 1988 tournament). The tournament took place, for the ninth time, in Cuba, from October 14 to 28, and was won by host Cubaits 17th AWS victory. There were 13 participating countries, including first-time participant Netherlands Antilles. WBSC Premier12
The WBSC Premier12 is the international baseball tournament organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), featuring the 12 highest-ranked national baseball teams in the world. The first tournament was held by Taiwan and Japan in November 2015. The second tournament, 2019 WBSC Premier12, was held in November 2019, and served as a qualifier for two teams for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. 2015 WBSC Premier12
The 2015 WBSC Premier12 was an international baseball championship sponsored by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the inaugural event of the WBSC Premier12. It was held from November 8 to 21 in Taiwan and Japan. The South Korean national team won the championship, and split a US$1 million prize. The top twelve teams in the WBSC World Rankings qualified to participate in the tournament, which began with two groups of six teams playing in a round-robin format for the first round. The tournament then continued with the top four teams in each group playing in the knockout stage, leading to the championship game. In the final, South Korea defeated United States 8–0 to win their first WBSC Premier12 title, and became the first nation to win the championship. Japan finished in third place, while Mexico finished in fourth place. South Korea's Hyun-soo Kim won the Most Valuable Player Award.
