1986 (News Magazine)
''1986'' is an American news magazine television series that aired on NBC from June 10 to December 30, 1986. The lead anchors were Roger Mudd and Connie Chung. Maria Shriver also contributed to the program. The show was NBC's 14th attempt in 17 years to launch a prime time news program in a similar fashion that both CBS (''60 Minutes'') and ABC (''20/20'') had successfully done. Roger Mudd was particularly agitated over the quick cancellation of the program and left the network shortly thereafter. Roger Mudd
Roger Harrison Mudd (February 9, 1928 – March 9, 2021) was an American broadcast journalist who was a correspondent and anchor for CBS News and NBC News. He also worked as the primary anchor for History (U.S. TV channel), The History Channel. Previously, Mudd was weekend and weekday substitute anchor for the ''CBS Evening News'', the co-anchor of the weekday ''NBC Nightly News'', and the host of the NBC-TV ''Meet the Press'' and ''American Almanac'' TV programs. Constance Yu-Hwa Chung (born August 20, 1946) is an American journalist. She has been an anchor and reporter for the U.S. television news networks NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Maria Shriver
Maria Owings Shriver (born November 6, 1955) is an American journalist, author, a member of the Kennedy family, former First Lady of California, and the founder of the nonprofit organization The Women's Alzheimer's Movement. She was married to former governor of California and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, from whom she filed for divorce in 2011 and which was finalized in 2021. Shriver began her journalism career at CBS station KYW-TV and briefly anchored the CBS Morning News before joining NBC News in 1986.
