1985 World Women's Curling Championship
The 1985 World Women's Curling Championship (branded as 1985 H&M World Women's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from March 17–23 at the Rosenlundshallen in Jönköping, Sweden. Canada's Linda Moore rink defeated Scotland's Isobel Torrance team in the final, 5–2. Both teams played cautiously, but Scotland, who were the youngest team at the event, made more mistakes. Canada took a significant lead in the sixth end, when they stole a point to lead 3–1 after Torrance tried a hit and stick, but rolled out of the house. Canada stole another point in the ninth to lead 5–2 after Torrance was light on a draw attempt. In the final end, Moore ran Scotland out of stones after making a take out of a rock in the 12-foot. Prior to Moore's shot, Scotland were sitting two, but needed three to tie. It was Canada's second straight championship, the first country to win two straight titles. Hvidovre
Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. Monika Wagner
Monika Wagner (born 28 February 1965 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany) is a German curler. She currently plays third for Andrea Schöpp, who was born eight hours before her in the same hospital. Wagner has played with Schöpp for most of her international career. She was her lead at the 1980 European Curling Championships where they won the bronze medal. Since then Wagner has been both Schöpp's second and third. Andrea Schöpp (born 27 February 1965) is a German curler from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She lectures part-time in statistics at the University of Munich. Career Schöpp is a two-time World champion ( and ), seven-time European champion (, , , , , , ) and 1992 Winter Olympics champion (demonstration). Schöpp has skipped every team she has played for in international events - except when she plays at the European Mixed Curling Championships, where she usually plays third for her brother, Rainer. Schöpp made her international debut in 1980, at the age of 15. She skipped the German team to a bronze medal at the European championships that year.
