The 1985 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place in 1985. 1984 Ladies European Tour
The 1984 Ladies European Tour was the fifth season of golf tournaments administered by the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) on behalf of the Women's Professional Golfers' Association (WPGA), which later became the Ladies European Tour (LET). In the second season of PGA administration, the tour saw the addition of several new tournaments with the format of most being changed to 72-holes stroke play, having been mostly 54 and 36-hole events previously. In total, there were 21 tournaments on the schedule, including the return of the Women's British Open, organised by the Ladies' Golf Union and one of two tournaments co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour, along with the Ladies Irish Open. The Order of Merit was won by Dale Reid, who dominated the season with two tournament victories and five runner-up finishes. Federica Dassù
Federica Dassù (born 17 February 1957) is an Italian professional golfer. Career Dassù was born in Milan. She turned professional in 1983 and joined the Women Professional Golfers' European Tour (now the Ladies European Tour). She won her last Ladies European Tour title, the 2003 Open de España Femenino at an age of 44, the oldest LET winner at the time, and announced her retirement at the end of the season. The following year Dassù caddied for Diana Luna as she won the Tenerife Ladies Open. Penny B. Grice-Whittaker ( Grice, 11 October 1964) is a former English golfer turned singer. As an amateur golfer, Grice-Whittaker won multiple events in England and was a bronze medalist for the Great Britain and Ireland team at the 1984 Espirito Santo Trophy. She also participated at the Curtis Cup that year for Great Britain before turning professional in 1985. As a professional golfer, Grice-Whittaker won her first Ladies European Tour event at the 1986 Belgian Ladies Godiva Open. Catherine Rita Panton-Lewis (born 14 June 1955) is a Scottish professional golfer who was a founding member of the Ladies European Tour and won its first Order of Merit. Her father was John Panton, MBE, a professional golfer who played on three Ryder Cup teams. Panton was born in Bridge of Allan, Scotland. Kitrina Douglas (born 6 September 1960) is an English ex- professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Douglas won the British Ladies Amateur in 1982 and played in the 1982 Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team. She played professionally on the Ladies European Tour, where she won eight times and was a member of the 1992 European Solheim Cup team. Deborah Ann Dowling (26 July 1962 – 18 January 2019) was an English professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Career Dowling represented England at the 1979 Girls Home Internationals. She turned professional and joined the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 1981 and won six times, at the 1983 Melcade International Tournament and the Ladies Jersey Open, the 1985 Portuguese Ladies Open, the 1986 Laing Ladies Classic and the 1986 and the 1989 Eastleigh Classic. She also won the 1989 Thailand Open and the 1996 Singapore Open on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour. In 1985 and 1986, she finished fifth on the LET Order of Merit.
