The 73rd Grey Cup was the 1985 Canadian Football League championship game that was played at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, between the BC Lions and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Olympic Stadium (Montreal)
Olympic Stadium (french: Stade olympique) is a multi-purpose stadium in Montreal, Canada, located at Olympic Park in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district of the city. Built in the mid-1970s as the main venue for the 1976 Summer Olympics, it is nicknamed "The Big O", a reference to both its name and to the doughnut-shape of the permanent component of the stadium's roof. It is also disparagingly referred to as "The Big Owe" in reference to the high cost to the city of its construction and of hosting the 1976 Olympics as a whole. Frank Rigney
Frank Rigney (April 9, 1936 – June 29, 2010) was an offensive tackle for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. College Rigney played college ball with another Blue Bomber great, quarterback Ken Ploen at the University of Iowa. CFL Frank Rigney was an outstanding offensive tackle for Winnipeg. During his 10-year stint from 1958 to 1967, Winnipeg won the Grey Cup four times, in 1958, 1959, 1961, and 1962. Winnipeg also participated and lost in 1965, the so-called Wind Bowl. "The first year we got a tie clasp from the city. The second year that we won, we did get a ring, the one and only one we got. The next two that we won, I can't remember what we got. The Grey Cup (french: Coupe Grey) is both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team playing in the namesake championship of professional Canadian football. The game is contested between the winners of the CFL's East and West Divisional playoffs and is one of Canadian television's largest annual sporting events. Bernie Ruoff
Bernie Ruoff (born October 12, 1951) is a former punter and placekicker for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1975 to 1979 and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1980 to 1987 of the Canadian Football League. He finished his CFL career in 1988, playing 5 games for the British Columbia Lions. Ruoff scored 1,772 points in 14 seasons in the CFL and is one of the leading scorers in league history. He also holds CFL records for the most punts in one game (22 in 1984), and most punting yards in one game (1,054 in 1984). Steve Stapler (born June 28, 1958) is a former Canadian football wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Johnny Shepherd
Johnny Shepherd (born April 24, 1957) was a star college football running back and the Rookie of the Year in the Canadian Football League. College career Shepherd started his college career at Liberty University, where he was the team leading rusher in 1978 with 529 yards. He moved to Livingston University (now The University of West Alabama), where he was named Honorable Mention All-American in 1982, All-Gulf South Conference in 1981 and 1982 and is a member of UWA's Team of the Decade from the 1980s. Ron Ingram
Ronald Walter Ingram (July 5, 1933 – June 30, 1988) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and coach. He played 114 games in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, and Detroit Red Wings between 1956 and 1965. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1953 to 1970, was spent in various minor leagues. After his playing career Ingram worked as a coach in various leagues, including with the San Diego Mariners and Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association from 1975 to 1978. Jim Sandusky
Jim Sandusky (born September 9, 1961) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos. In a 12-year career from 1984 to 1996, he caught 586 passes for 9,737 yards and 69 touchdowns. Sandusky played college football at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and San Diego State University. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). BC Lions
The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
