1985 Buffalo Bills Season
The 1985 Buffalo Bills season was the franchise's 16th season in the National Football League, and the 26th overall. It was Buffalo's second-consecutive 2–14 season. Head coach Kay Stephenson was fired after an 0–4 start. Defensive coordinator Hank Bullough took over, going 2–10 for the remainder of the season. For the second consecutive season, the Bills went winless on the road. 2000 NFL Season
The 2000 NFL season was the 81st regular season of the National Football League. The season ended with Super Bowl XXXV when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the New York Giants, 34–7, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Week 1 of the season reverted to Labor Day weekend in 2000. It would be the last NFL season to date to start on Labor Day weekend. Mark Traynowicz
Mark Joseph Traynowicz (born November 20, 1962) is a former American football offensive lineman who played five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Buffalo Bills and Phoenix Cardinals. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Traynowicz played college football at University of Nebraska–Lincoln and attended Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Nebraska. He was a unanimous All-American in 1984. Early years Traynowicz participated in football, wrestling and track and field at Bellevue West High School, earning nine varsity letters. In 1979, he was a first-team All-State football selection and won the Nebraska Class A state heavyweight wrestling championship with a final record of 29 wins and one loss. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs. Derrick Burroughs
Derrick D'wayne Burroughs (born May 18, 1962) is an American football coach and former cornerback who played five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Buffalo Bills. He served two stints as the head football coach at Lane College, from 2010 to 2013 and 2015 to 2019. Coaching career Burroughs began his coaching career in 1995 as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for Knoxville College. Three years later, he joined the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in the role of running backs coach. Burroughs became the defensive backs coach of the Berlin Thunder in 1999. He served in a similar capacity with the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League (2000) and Memphis Maniax of the XFL (2001). Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. The Comeback (American Football)
The Comeback was a National Football League (NFL) game held on January 3, 1993, as part of 1992–93 NFL playoffs. The Buffalo Bills overcame a 35–3 deficit to defeat the visiting Houston Oilers 41–38 in overtime and set the then-record for largest comeback in NFL history. The Bills' 32-point comeback is still, however, the largest in the NFL postseason, and the second-largest overall, behind the 2022 Indianapolis Colts–Minnesota Vikings game. It was also the first time an NFL team with a lead of at least 30 points lost the game, and the only one until the aforementioned Colts/Vikings game of 2022. Frank Reich
Frank Michael Reich Jr. (; ; born December 4, 1961) is an American football coach and former quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons, primarily with the Buffalo Bills. He played college football at Maryland and was selected by the Bills in the third round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Reich spent most of his career backing up Jim Kelly, although he achieved recognition when he led the Bills to the NFL's largest postseason comeback during the 1992–93 NFL playoffs. After retiring as a player, Reich began an NFL coaching career.
