1985 Atlanta Falcons Season
The 1985 Atlanta Falcons season was the franchise’s 20th season in the National Football League (NFL). They finished last in the NFC West with a record of four wins and twelve losses. This season marked the first time since 1972 that the Falcons played the Kansas City Chiefs, and merely the second in team history. The reason for this is that before the admission of the Texans in 2002, NFL scheduling formulas for games outside a team’s division were much more influenced by table position during the previous season. They were provisionally scheduled to play in 1976, but that game was scrapped to make room for games against the newly formed Buccaneers and Seahawks, and actually scheduled to play in 1982, but that game was cancelled by a player's strike. NFC West
The National Football Conference - Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Coastal Division, keeping with the theme of having all of the league's divisions starting with the letter "C." The division was so named because its teams were fairly close to the coasts of the United States, although they were on opposite coasts, making for long travel between division rivals. The NFL Coastal Division had four members: Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Colts, Los Angeles Rams, and San Francisco 49ers. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. 1984 Clemson Tigers Football Team
The 1984 Clemson Tigers football team was an American football team that represented Clemson University in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) during the 1984 NCAA Division I-A football season. In its seventh season under head coach Danny Ford, the team compiled a 7–4 record (5–2 on the field against conference opponents, but officially 0–0), and outscored opponents by a total of 346 to 215. The team played its home games at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. The 1984 season was Clemson's final season on probation for violation of recruiting rules. The probation was imposed by the NCAA and ACC on November 21, 1982, and expired on January 2, 1985. As a result of the probation, the 1984 Clemson team was ineligible for the ACC championship and postseason play, and their games against ACC opponents were not counted in the official league standings. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. Reginald Lecarno Pleasant (born May 2, 1962) is a former professional gridiron football defensive back. Playing collegiately for Clemson University, where he won a National Championship in 1981.
