1984–85 Quebec Nordiques Season
The 1984–85 Quebec Nordiques season was the Nordiques sixth season in the National Hockey League. Offseason The Nordiques had a pretty quiet off-season, as they looked to build off of their successful 1983–84 season. The club hired the recently retired Guy Lapointe as an assistant coach, while they also signed goaltender Richard Sevigny as a free agent from the Montreal Canadiens. Sevigny had a 16-18-2 record with a 3.38 GAA with Montreal in 1983–84. Regular season Quebec started the season off pretty slow, going only 3-6-1 in their first ten games, sitting in last place in the Adams Division. Quebec continued to play mediocre hockey for the majority of the first half of the season, as they had a 16-16-6 record after 38 games, battling with the Boston Bruins for third place in the division. 1984–85 Edmonton Oilers Season
The 1984–85 Edmonton Oilers season was the Oilers' sixth season in the NHL, and they were coming off a Stanley Cup championship in 1983–84. Edmonton would win their fourth-straight Smythe Division title, and repeat as Stanley Cup champions. The 1984–85 Vancouver Canucks season was the team's 15th in the National Hockey League (NHL). Offseason On May 18, Bill LaForge was announced as the new head coach. At 32 years of age, LaForge would be the youngest coach in the NHL at the time. Dan Bouchard
Daniel Hector Bouchard (born December 12, 1950) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Quebec Nordiques, and original Winnipeg Jets. Career Bouchard played in the 1962 and 1963 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with his LaSalle youth team. As a junior, Bouchard backstopped the Sorel Black Hawks to the 1969 Memorial Cup. The Minnesota North Stars were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 26 seasons, from 1967 to 1993. Brent Kenneth Ashton (born May 18, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent fourteen seasons in the National Hockey League between 1979 and 1993. Despite being a fine goalscoring winger, he was known during his career for being the most-traded player in the history of the NHL, a record since tied by Mike Sillinger. Brad Maxwell
Bradley Robert Maxwell (born July 8, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player renowned as a playmaking defenceman. He featured in the 1981 Stanley Cup Finals with the Minnesota North Stars. After having won the Memorial Cup in 1977 as a member of the New Westminster Bruins, Maxwell was selected seventh overall in the 1977 NHL amateur draft by the Minnesota North Stars. He stayed with the North Stars throughout the early 1980s, recording 73 points in 78 games in his best season with the club in 1983–84.
