1984–85 John Player Cup
The 1984–85 John Player Cup was the 14th edition of England's premier rugby union club competition at the time. Bath won the competition for the second consecutive year defeating London Welsh in the final. Anglo-Welsh Cup
The Anglo-Welsh Cup (), was a cross-border rugby union knock-out cup competition that featured the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs and the four Welsh regions. It was a created as a replacement for the RFU Knockout Cup, which featured only English clubs. The competition was replaced by the Premiership Rugby Cup, involving only the 12 English Premiership clubs, beginning with the 2018–19 season. Stuart Russell (rugby Union)
Stuart Edward Russell (born 29 May 1963) is a Welsh former rugby union international. Russell, a Nairobi-born lock, attended Burford School in Oxfordshire and played for London Welsh. Capped once for Wales, in a 1987 win over the United States, Russell was the first London Welsh player to debut for Wales since Clive Rees back in 1974. He moved to Bishop's Stortford in 1988, but was forced to retire from top level rugby within a year due to an eye injury, having twice suffered a detached retina. Mark Douglas (rugby Union)
Mark Henry James Douglas (born 10 December 1960) is a Welsh former rugby union international. Born in Aberystwyth, Douglas was a scrum-half for Llanelli and London Welsh during the 1980s. Douglas was capped three times for Wales in the 1984 Five Nations Championship, filling in for injured scrum-half Terry Holmes. On his debut against Scotland, he fumbled a likely try in the last play of the game which would have given Wales a kick to win. Clive Rees
Clive Frederick William Rees (born 6 October 1951 in Singapore) is a former Welsh rugby union player. He won thirteen caps as left wing for Wales between 1973 and 1983. Clive Rees's rugby career started at Llanelli Grammar School in the late 1960s where he instantly became known as 'Fred' and played on the wing at all levels. In the same Llanelli & District Schoolboys team were future internationals Gareth Jenkins and Stephen Warlow, and Scarlets Bernard Thomas and Roy Mathias. He displayed his natural speed by winning both the 100 and 200 meters at the Colwyn Bay Secondary Schools Athletic Championship. Rees went on to study at Loughborough College, where he played in the rugby team for three seasons alongside future stars Fran Cotton and Steve Smith. Rob Ackerman (rugby)
Robert Angus Ackerman (born 2 March 1961) is a Welsh former dual-code international rugby union and rugby league footballer. In 1983 he toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions whilst playing for London Welsh RFC. A centre, he also played club rugby for Newport RFC. He was educated at Christ College Brecon. He made his Welsh debut on 1 November 1980 against the All Blacks at Cardiff, at the age of 19. He also played rugby league, turning professional on 13 April 1986 when he signed for Whitehaven in Cumbria. He went on to play for Leeds, Carlisle Border Raiders, and finished his rugby league at Salford in 1993. Jack Rowell
Jack Rowell OBE (born 1937) is an English rugby union coach and executive. He is the former coach of Bath and England. Rugby career Coaching Between 1978 and 1994 Rowell coached Bath during their ''golden era'', winning eight John Player/Pilkington Cups and five League Championships. Rowell was the coach of the England rugby team from 1995 to 1997. David Egerton
David William Egerton (19 October 1961 – 8 February 2021) was an English rugby union international who represented England from 1988 to 1990. At club level, Egerton played for Bath Rugby between 1985 and 1995. After retiring, Egerton worked as a coach for Bristol United and Bridgwater & Albion. Jeremy Guscott
Jeremy Clayton Guscott (born 7 July 1965) is a British former rugby union outside centre who played for Bath, England and the British and Irish Lions. He also appeared for England on the wing. Guscott was born in Bath, Somerset, one of the two sons of hospital porter Henry Guscott and his wife Sue, and was educated at Ralph Allen School. He played for his home city throughout his career, most of which was during the amateur era. Guscott was originally a bricklayer, briefly drove buses for Badgerline in Bath, then worked for British Gas in a public-relations role before the game turned professional. Nigel Charles Redman (born 16 August 1964) is a former professional rugby union player who played as a lock (rugby union), lock for Bath Rugby, Bath and the England national rugby union team, England national team.
