Uri Barbash
Uri Barbash ( Hebrew: אורי ברבש; born 24 December 1946) is an Israeli film director. He directed the film "Beyond the Walls" (1984 film) written by his brother Benny Barbash and Eran Preis. the film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film is about an overcrowded prison where Jewish and Arab inmates set aside their prejudices and unite in a daring escape plan. His film ''Echad Mishelanu'' (One of Us) (1989) is an Israeli drama about a military policeman sent to investigate his former comrades in an elite paratroop unit charged with the murder of an Arab who killed a member of the unit. Atalia
''Atalia'' ( he, עתליה) is a 1984 Israeli drama directed by Akiva Tevet. It was adapted from a story by Yitzhak Ben Ner and mostly shot on location at Kibbutz Yakum. Plot Atalia (Michal Bat-Adam) is a 40-year-old widow who lost her husband in the Six-Day War and lives on a kibbutz with her adolescent daughter (Gail Ben-Ner). Lonely and feeling outcast, she enters into a forbidden affair with her daughter's classmate, Matti (Yiptach Katzur), an idealistic 19-year-old who had been rejected by the army. Atalia is independent-minded and non-conformist, so when her affair becomes known, the kibbutz leaders have the excuse they need to ostracize her. The slow degeneration of the once-idealistic kibbutz into a puritanical society, the strait-jacket of its conservative view of masculinity, and the conformity of her daughter all provide a backdrop to Atalia's problems. Zachi Noy ( he, צחי נוי; born 8 July 1953) is an Israeli actor. Early life Noy was born in 1953 in Haifa, Israel. At a young age, Noy did stage work for the local Israeli theater "HaSadna" in Haifa. Later, he spent his military service in a military band. Career Noy gained much success after he played Yudale in the successful 1978 Israeli film ''Lemon Popsicle'' (''Eskimo Limon'') which became an Israeli cult film and was followed by a series of sequels. In the following decade Noy participated in all the sequels of "Lemon Popsicle" including a spin-off film called "Sababa". Dan Wolman (born October 28, 1941) is an Israeli filmmaker and lecturer in film studies. Biography Dan Wolman was born in Jerusalem, in what was then the British Mandate of Palestine. His father was Moshe Wolman, a pioneering physician. He spent part of his childhood in Ethiopia. After completing high school, Wolman served in the Nahal Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces. He studied film at the Film Institute of City College New York between 1962 and 1965 and at the New York University film department between 1965 and 1968. Academic and film career In 1974 and 1978 Wolman taught at the School of Visual Arts and at New York University. In 1981 he taught screenwriting and production at Tel Aviv University. The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI, short for Fédération Internationale de la PRESse CInématographique) is an association of national organizations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world for "the promotion and development of film culture and for the safeguarding of professional interests." The 57th Academy Awards were presented March 25, 1985, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles. Jack Lemmon presided over the ceremonies. This ceremony marked the first time that multiple black nominees would win an Oscar, when Prince and Stevie Wonder won for their respective work on '' Purple Rain'' and '' The Woman in Red''.
