The 1984 UEFA European Under-16 Championship was the second edition of UEFA's European Under-16 Football Championship. West Germany hosted the championship, during 3–5 May 1984. Four teams entered the competition, after playing one qualifying stage and quarterfinals. West Germany won the final against Soviet Union. Qualifying The final tournament of the 1984 UEFA European Under-16 Championship was preceded by two qualification stages: a qualifying round and quarterfinals. During these rounds, 27 national teams competed to determine the four teams that played the tournament. Böblingen (; Swabian German, Swabian: ''Beblenga'') is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, seat of Böblingen (district), Böblingen District. Olaf Janßen
Olaf Janßen (born 8 October 1966) is a retired German Association football, footballer and manager of FC Viktoria Köln, Viktoria Köln, who played as a midfielder. Club career Janßen spent most of his playing career with German Bundesliga sides 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt, where he later worked as a scout. In September 2013 he was appointed as manager of Dynamo Dresden, but was sacked after nine months on the job. In June 2016 Janßen became assistant coach to VfB Stuttgart head coach Jos Luhukay. Ludwigsburg (; Swabian: ''Ludisburg'') is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, about north of Stuttgart city centre, near the river Neckar. Soviet Union National Under-16 Football Team
The Soviet national junior football team was the under-16 (continental competitions) and under-17 (world competitions) football team of the Soviet Union. It ceased to exist as a result of the breakup of the Union. Following the realignment of UEFA's youth competitions in 1982, the USSR Under-16 team was formed. The competition has been held since 1982. From 1982 to 2001 it was an Under-16 event. The team had a good record, winning the competition once, reaching the final twice, but failing to qualify for the last six on 10 occasions. The team has participated in FIFA U-16 World Championship only once – in 1987 – after being qualified from European Under-16 championship as a runner-up. USSR won it in a final game against Nigeria by penalties. The team gained the Fair Play award.
