The 1983 Volta a Catalunya was the 63rd edition of the Volta a Catalunya cycle race and was held from 7 September to 14 September 1983. The race started in Salou and finished at Igualada. José Recio
José Recio Ariza (born January 24, 1957, in Fernán Núñez) is a Spanish former professional road racing cyclist. He won five stages at Vuelta a España and several Spanish stage races like Volta a Catalunya, Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme and Vuelta a Burgos Vuelta Ciclista a Burgos is an elite professional road bicycle racing event held annually in the Burgos province of Spain. Gerard Veldscholten (born 19 August 1959 in Lemselo, Overijssel) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer. In 1985 he placed 2nd in the Dutch National Championship and also performed well in the 1985 UCI Road World Championships finishing within the group just three seconds behind winner Joop Zoetemelk. Vicente Belda Vicedo (born 12 September 1954) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, born in Alfafara. He is now the manager of Spanish UCI Professional Continental outfit Fuerteventura–Canarias. Henk Lubberding
Henk Lubberding (born 4 August 1953 in Voorst) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer. He was a professional from 1977 to 1992. As an amateur, he finished third in the 1976 Tour de l'Avenir. The following year he turned professional with the Dutch cycling team TI–Raleighof Peter Post. Lubberding stayed his entire career in teams directed by Post. In 1978, Lubberding was road race champion of the Netherlands and won a stage in the 1978 Tour de France, finishing eighth overall and best young rider. He was a good mountain climber despite being tall, and from the low lands of Holland. After team leader Hennie Kuiper left, Lubberding and Paul Wellens became co-leaders and Lubberding performed well throughout 1979 with high placings in Paris–Nice, the Amstel Gold Race, Gent–Wevelgem, Tour de Romandie, Rund um den Henninger-Turm and the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. Pedro Delgado Robledo (; born 15 April 1960), also known as Perico (), is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer. He won the 1988 Tour de France, as well as the Vuelta a España in 1985 and 1989. Delgado is 171 centimetres tall (5 ft 7-1/2 in) and used to weigh 64 kilograms (141 lb). He was a good climber, with an aggressive style, making cycling a spectacle, which gained him fans. On one hand, there were days when he was extremely successful attacking. On the other, he occasionally suffered from big losses of time due to mistakes or strokes of bad luck. He was also a good time-trialist until the nineties, when it became difficult for him to adapt to technical changes in the time-trial bicycles. The ending of the 1987 Tour de France and the 1985 Vuelta a España and the whole 1989 Tour are among his more memorable participations in major competitions. Kelme (cycling Team)
Kelme was a professional cycling team based in Spain. History In 1979, Kelme sponsored the mountains classification in the Vuelta a España. The owners of Kelme were not satisfied with the publicity that this produced, so they decided to sponsor a cycling team instead. The Kelme team was formed from another Spanish cycling team, Transmallorca, in 1980. From the 2004 cycling season, the Valencian government took the main sponsorship, Kelme becoming co-sponsor, finally dropping from the team at the end of the year. Despite this, the team kept on running, but its days were numbered when on 20 August 2006, because of doping allegations on Operación Puerto, the Valencian government dropped its sponsorship. Faustino Rupérez Rincón (born 29 July 1956) is a Spanish former professional road racing cyclist who raced between 1979 and 1985. Ruperez is most famous for capturing the overall title at the 1980 Vuelta a España.
