1983 FIFA World Youth Championship
The 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship was the fourth edition FIFA World Youth Championship tournament, hosted from 2 June to 19 June 1983 in seven venues in Mexico — Guadalajara, Irapuato, León, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla and Toluca — where a total of 32 matches were played. Brazil U20 defeated Argentina, 1–0, at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium to claim its inaugural tournament title of five. This edition still retains the record average daily attendance of 36,099 in the tournament's history. Geovani Faria Da Silva
Geovani Faria da Silva (born 6 April 1964 in Vitória), referred to simply as Geovani Silva or Geovani, is a Brazilian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He began his career at 16 in Desportiva Ferroviária. In 1983, he was transferred to Vasco da Gama, where he became famous, playing alongside the likes of Romário and Roberto Dinamite. He represented Brazil at the 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship, where he became the top scorer, and was also elected as the best player of the tournament. He scored the only goal in the final, where Brazil beat Argentina 1–0. He received 24 senior international caps, from May 1985 to September 1991, and was a member of the Brazilian team in the 1988 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal. Marcelino Bernal Pérez (born 27 May 1962) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career A talented all-around midfielder, able to win possession effectively as well as score goals, Bernal spent most of his club career with Puebla and Toluca. He won two championships: Puebla in 1990 and Pachuca in 1999. He ended his top-flight career with UNAM in 2001. International career He got 65 caps and 5 goals for the Mexico national team between 1988 and 1998, and he participated at the World Cups in 1994 and 1998. The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA.
