1983 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1983 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 22–26 June at the Royal Waterloo Golf Club in Lasne, Belgium. It was the 13th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was founded in 1923 by Rodolphe Seeldrayers. The course was designed by architect Frederick William Hawtree and established in 1961 in Ohain, Lasne, in the region of Wallon Brabant, close to the historic Waterloo battlefield, 20 kilometres south-east of the city center of Brussels, Belgium. The championship course was set up with par 73. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of stroke-play with six players, counted the five best scores for each team. Lasne (; wa, Lane) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Walloon Brabant, Belgium, south east of Brussels. In 2008, Lasne had a population of 14,043. The total area is 47.22 km² which gives a population density of 297 inhabitants per km². Lasne is the richest municipality in Wallonia, measured by the average taxable income of the inhabitants. Ingeborg Cécilia Mourgue d'Algue (née Perslow) (born 4 August 1946, in Sweden) is a French - Swedish amateur golfer. Early life Mourgue d'Algue, at the time named Cécilia Perslow, grew up playing golf with her parents Martin and Ingeborg at Örebro Golf Club, the 18-hole course situated outside Örebro in the province of Närke in the middle of Sweden. Her mother Ingeborg became the ladies' golf champion of both the club and the province. In her teenage years, Perslow traveled between amateur tournaments in Sweden, often in a small car together with friend Liv Wollin, at the time the dominant female golfer in Sweden. Wollin and Perslow in 1966 came to meet in the final of the Swedish Match-play Championship when Perslow was the defending champion. Marie-Laure De Lorenzi
Marie-Laure de Lorenzi (born 21 January 1961, in Biarritz) is a French professional golfer. She is also known by her married name Marie-Laure Taya, and competed using that name until midway through 1989 when she reverted to her maiden name. De Lorenzi played for her country in the European Lady Junior's Team Championship, for players up to the age of 21, from she was 14 years old in 1975 until 1982 and was on the winning team in 1979. She also won individually in 1981. De Lorenzi joined the Ladies European Tour in 1987 and is now a life member of the tour, having accumulated 19 tournament victories on it. She played for Europe in the first Solheim Cup, which took place in 1990, and was also a member of the European team in 1996 and 1998. Jill Thornhill ( Woodside, born 18 August 1942) is an English amateur golfer. Her biggest successes came after reaching 40. She won the 1983 British Ladies Amateur, the 1986 English Women's Amateur Championship and the 1993 Women's Senior Amateur. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1984, 1986 and 1988. Personal life Bayman was born Linda Louise Denison-Pender to Louise (née Riviere) and Richard Ernest Denison-Pender in 1948. She married John Edward Bayman in 1973 and thereafter competed under her married name, Bayman. Following her marriage she played relatively little top-level golf until 1982. Douglas won the British Ladies Amateur in 1982 and played in the 1982 Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team.
