Lake Placid, New York
Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303. The village of Lake Placid is near the center of the town of North Elba, southwest of Plattsburgh. Lake Placid, along with nearby Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, comprise what is known as the Tri-Lakes region. Lake Placid hosted the 1932 and the 1980 Winter Olympics. Mark Wayne Cockerell (born April 24, 1962) is a former American figure skater. He is the 1976 World Junior champion, the 1978 Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist, and a three-time U.S. senior national medalist (bronze in 1983 and in 1984, silver in 1985). Lea Ann Miller
Lea Ann Miller (born January 22, 1961) is an American retired pair skater. With partner William Fauver, she is a three-time (1981, 1983–1984) U.S. Figure Skating Championships, U.S. silver medalist and the 1982 U.S. bronze medalist. They represented the United States at the 1984 Winter Olympics, where they placed 10th. They turned professional following the Olympic season and toured professionally with Stars on Ice and Jayne Torvill / Christopher Dean's world tour. Elizabeth Ann Manley, CM (born August 7, 1965) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 1988 Olympic silver medallist, the 1988 World silver medalist and a three-time Canadian national champion. Early life and training Manley was born in 1965 in Trenton, Ontario, the fourth child and only daughter in her family. Her father's military career necessitated occasionally moving, and when Manley was nine years old, her family moved from Trenton to Ottawa. After her parents' divorce in the 1970s, she was raised by her mother, Joan. Competitive career Manley began skating at an early age. Her mother invested time and money in her daughter's figure skating career. Manley won the bronze medal at the 1982 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany. Claudia Pfrengle (née Leistner, born 15 April 1965) is a German former figure skater. She is a two-time World silver medalist and the 1989 European champion. Career Leistner was a roller skater before taking up ice skating. In the 1981–82 season, she landed on the German senior national podium for the first time, taking the silver medal behind Manuela Ruben.
