McGill Redmen Soccer
The McGill Redbirds soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity men's soccer team representing McGill University and competes in the RSEQ conference of U Sports. The program has won three U Sports national championships, in 1981, 1982, and 1997. The program also features 17 RSEQ conference championship winners. Players The soccer program at McGill operates throughout the entire school year. In addition to the regular U Sports fall season, the Men's team also compete in the RSEQ indoor season running from January to mid March. U Sports Men's Soccer Championship
The U Sports men's soccer championship is a Canadian university soccer tournament which involves the champions from each of Canada's four regional sports conferences. The championship features eight teams in single-elimination matches to determine a national champion. The championship hosts 11 games over four days at a predetermined host venue. The host team is automatically qualified for the tournament, as is each of the conference champions, with additional berths awarded for the remaining spots. The Sam Davidson Memorial Trophy is awarded to the winners. The UBC Thunderbirds have won the most championships with 13. The 2020 championship tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. U Sports (stylized as U SPORTS) is the national sport governing body of university sport in Canada, comprising the majority of degree-granting universities in the country. Its equivalent body for organized sports at colleges in Canada is the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Some institutions are members of both bodies for different sports.
