1981 Fed Cup
The 1981 Federation Cup (also known as the 1981 Federation Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 19th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Tamagawa-en Racquet Club in Tokyo, Japan, from 9–15 November. The United States won their sixth consecutive title, defeating Great Britain in the final, in what was a rematch of the 1967 Federation Cup. 1980 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1980 Federation Cup was the 18th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in West Berlin from 19–25 May. The United States won their fifth consecutive title, defeating Australia in their tenth and record eighth consecutive final. The US did not drop a single match during the tournament. Carmen Perea
Carmen Perea Alcalá (born 3 May 1952) is a Spanish former professional tennis player. Biography Perea was born in Melilla, an autonomous Spanish city on the African continent. She later moved to Málaga and then at the age of 18 settled in Barcelona. From 1973 to 1983 she appeared in 29 Federation Cup ties for Spain, winning 19 matches overall. One of her singles wins over was West German Sylvia Hanika in 1980. During this period she was the top female player in Spain and won nine Spanish Tennis Championships, in a run which included ten successive finals. She featured regularly in the main draw of the French Open and played doubles at Wimbledon and the US Open. Since retiring from professional tennis she has worked as a tennis coach and tournament director. She was the personal coach of Patricia Medrado in the 1980s and more recently has coached Nuria Llagostera. Csilla Bartos-Cserepy (née Bartos; born 29 March 1966) is a retired professional tennis who represented Hungary and Switzerland. Early life and tennis career Csilla Bartos was born in Cairo, Egypt on 29 March 1966, daughter of Hungarian parents Gyozo, a business man, and Klára Killermann, an Olympic breaststroke swimmer. She lived in Nigeria for nine years during her childhood. During her tennis career, Bartos-Cserepy reached two WTA singles finals. Virginia Ruzici (born 31 January 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Romania. She won the 1978 French Open singles championship. Career Ruzici became a professional tennis player in 1975. One of her main assets on court was her powerful forehand. In a career spanning 12 years, Ruzici won 12 career singles titles, including one Grand Slam title, the 1978 French Open. In the final, she beat 1977 French Open champion Mima Jaušovec 6–2, 6–2. Ruzici also won the French Open doubles event with Jaušovec in 1978 and reached the mixed doubles final in 1978. Andrea Temesvári (born 26 April 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Hungary. She won the Italian Open at age sixteen, but injuries would later hamper her career. Born in Budapest, Temesvári began playing tennis at age nine. She was coached by her father, Otto Temesvári, and Ferenc Polyak. Career She joined the WTA Tour in 1981, and was awarded ''Most Improved Player Award'' by WTA Tour and TENNIS Magazine in 1982. Temesvári reached a career-high of world No. 7 in 1983. Lita Sugiarto
Lita Liem Sugiarto (born 27 February 1946), sometimes known by her maiden name Lita Liem, a former Indonesian professional tennis player. She played at Grand Slam events between 1968 and 1975, in women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. In women's doubles, she and partner Lany Kaligis reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals: the Australian Open in 1970 and Wimbledon in 1971. As such, she and Kaligis were among the first Indonesians to reach the later rounds of a Grand Slam competition. Kaligis was the only partner that Sugiarto ever played with in Grand Slam doubles competition. Rafeket Binyamini (born 15 September 1964) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. Now working as a coach, she is a manager for the Israel Tennis Center. Born in Tel Aviv, Binyamini was a national champion in both the 16s and 18s age groups. She won Israel's senior championships in 1981 and made her debut that year for the Federation Cup team. In a four-year Federation Cup career she featured in 11 ties and won six singles matches, which included beating Brazil's Cláudia Monteiro. Binyamini, a Maccabiah Games medalist for Israel, played U.S. collegiate tennis in San Diego for United States International University.
