1980–81 Cupa României
The 1980–81 Cupa României was the 43rd edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Universitatea Craiova against Politehnica Timişoara. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. In the first round proper, if a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, the team who played away will qualify, if the teams are from the same league, then the winner will be established at penalty kicks. CS Universitatea Craiova
U Craiova 1948 Club Sportiv, commonly known as Universitatea Craiova (), CS U Craiova, or simply U Craiova, is a Romanian professional football team based in Craiova, Dolj County, which competes in the Liga I, the top tier of the Romanian league system. Initially founded in 1948 as the football section of the ''CSU Craiova'' sports club, it was part of it until 1991, when its berth in the league championship was taken by FC U Craiova following privatisation. Between 1948 and 1991, Universitatea had won four national titles and five national cups. In the next two decades however, FC U was reorganised several times and disaffiliated, which led to it being retroactively deemed an unofficial successor to the old entity. Fotbal Club Universitatea Cluj (), commonly known as Universitatea Cluj or simply as U Cluj, is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County, that competes in the Liga I, the first tier of the Romanian league system. Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea
Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea was a football club based in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Vâlcea County, Romania. It was founded in 1946 and dissolved in 2004. It won one Romanian Cup, in 1973. History In 1946 ''Vâlceana'' appeared in the Third Division. In 1947 it changed its name to ''CSM Vâlcea''. The club is relegated and only in 1956 succeeds to return again under the name of ''Flamura Roşie'', the name being changed the next year to ''Unirea'' and in 1958 to ''Şantierul Govora''. It is relegated again, but after one year, the team jumped directly to the Second Division under the name of ''Chimia Govora''. FC Steaua București was a Romanian professional football club of which two current entities are claiming the records. The original ''FC Steaua București'' team was part of the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence. In 1998, the club and facilities were separated from the sports club and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, allegedly leading to one of the shareholders (Gigi Becali) acquiring full ownership five years later. However, CSA Steaua București sued the football club in 2011, claiming that this was a new entity; the two have since been in a legal conflict regarding the ownership of the Steaua brand and honours, which resulted in multiple court cases and the forced change of the name of ''FC Steaua București'' to FCSB in early 2017. FC Sportul Studențesc, commonly referred to as Sportul is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, that last played at senior level in the Liga IV. Founded in 1916, Sportul Studențesc was one of the oldest Romanian clubs still active. The club's best European performance came in the 1979–80 Balkans Cup, when it won the trophy, defeating Yugoslavian side NK Rijeka in the final. The club made it to the Balkans Cup final on one other occasion, in 1976, when it lost to another Yugoslavian side, Dinamo Zagreb. In the UEFA Cup, Sportul Studențesc's most notable performance came in the 1987–88 season, when the club reached the Third Round.
