The 1980 Men's World Outdoor Bowls Championship was held at the City of Frankston Bowling Club in Frankston, Melbourne, Australia, from 17 January to 2 February 1980. The Australian government would not allow the South African team to compete because of the South African policy of apartheid. David Bryant won his second singles title following his triumph in the 1966 competition. Philip Chok
Philip Chok is a former Hong Kong international lawn and indoor bowler. Chok won a gold medal in the fours at both the 1980 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Melbourne and the Lawn Bowls at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. He also finished runner-up to the legendary David Bryant (bowls), David Bryant in the 1980 World Indoor Bowls Championship. Morgan Moffat
David Morgan Moffat (born 22 January 1943) is a Scottish-born New Zealand lawn and indoor bowler, who has won medals representing both Scotland and New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games. Bowls career Moffat was born in Scotland and won a bronze medal in the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch before emigrating the following year to New Zealand. He won another bronze in both the triples and fours in the 1980 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, but this time for New Zealand. The success continued as he won bronze in the triples and silver in the fours during the 1984 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. Nick Unkovich
Nikola Unkovich (15 January 1923 – 21 July 2005), generally known as Nick Unkovich, was a New Zealand international lawn bowler. Early life and family Unkovich was born in 1923 on the island of Korčula in present-day Croatia, and migrated to New Zealand with his parents in 1932, settling in Northland. In 1951, he married Joy Auld in Auckland, and the couple went on to have two children. Bowls career Unkovich started bowling at the Matamata Bowling Club, after moving to nearly Waharoa to establish a grocery business. He played for the Okahu Bay Bowling Club in Auckland from the mid 1970s, and then the Rawhiti Club in Remuera in later years.
