1980 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The 1980 NCAA Men's National Collegiate Volleyball Championship, NCAA men's volleyball tournament was the 11th annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA men's college volleyball. The tournament was played at Irving Gymnasium in Muncie, Indiana during May 1980. USC Trojans men's volleyball, USC defeated UCLA Bruins men's volleyball, UCLA in the final match, 3–1 (15–7, 6–15, 15–13, 15–8), to win their second national title. This was a rematch of the previous year's final, which was won by UCLA. The Trojans (22–6) were coached by Ernie Hix. USC's Dusty Dvorak was named ''Most Outstanding Player'' of the tournament. An ''All-tournament team'' of seven players was also named. Qualification Until the creation of the NCAA Men's Division III Volleyball Championship in 2012, there was only a single national championship for men's volleyball. USC Trojans Men's Volleyball
USC Trojans men's volleyball is a collegiate volleyball team that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team participates as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1970 and first awarded schlorships during the 1976–77 season. The program has won the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship four times, and placed second seven times. Home games are played at Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles, California. Venues The North Gym, located in the USC Physical Education Building, was the team's home court from 1970 until 1988. From 1989 to 2006, the North Gym and the Lyon Center split time as the team's home court.
