1980 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup
The 1980 FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup was the first World Cup season in freestyle skiing organised by International Ski Federation. The season started on 7 January 1980 and ended on 30 March 1980. This season included four disciplines: aerials, moguls, ballet and combined. Greg Athans
Greg Athans (18 June 1955–8 August 2006) was a Canadian freestyle skier competing from 1976 to 1986 winning titles in multiple disciplines. Athans was also Canadian national waterskiing champion on fifteen occasions. He competed in the Canada Games, winning gold medals in the alpine slalom in 1971, and water skiing in 1973, becoming the first athlete to win gold medals at both the summer and winter games. In 1981, he was the best all-round competitor at the 1980 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup, winning the World Cup Grand Prix Award. He retired in 1982. Athans published a book, ''Ski Free'', detailing step-by-step instructions on how to perform freestyle moves. Athans died as a result of complications from diabetes. Ian Edmondson (born ) is a British tabloid journalist. He was the news editor at the ''News of the World''. Edmondson was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in April 2011 during the Operation Weeting phone-hacking investigation. Career Edmondson worked for ''News of the World'' twice. Before landing his first position at ''News of the World'' Edmondson worked as a freelance reporter. He was initially hired by ''News of the World'' as a general news reporter. He went on to spend 18 months as the paper's crime correspondent before moving to rival tabloid '' The People'' in 2000 as assistant news editor. Frank Beddor (July 31, 1958) is an American former world champion freestyle skier, film producer, actor, stuntman, and author. He worked as a producer on ''There's Something About Mary'' and ''Wicked'', and wrote the book ''The Looking Glass Wars''. Life and career Beddor grew up in Excelsior, Minnesota. His parents often traveled and by age twelve, Beddor already knew how to barefoot-ski. After winning nationals, Beddor was invited to join the Olympic ski team. He went on tour in Europe for competitive skiing. Beddor was World Champion freestyler skier in 1981 and 1982. In 1985 Beddor played John Cusack's skiing stunt double in '' Better Off Dead''. Beddor moved to Los Angeles during this period and studied with acting coach Stella Adler.
