Groningen (city)
Groningen (; gos, Grunn or ) is the capital city and main municipality of Groningen province in the Netherlands. The ''capital of the north'', Groningen is the largest place as well as the economic and cultural centre of the northern part of the country; as of December 2021, it had 235,287 inhabitants, making it the sixth largest city/municipality of the Netherlands and the second largest outside the Randstad. Thomas Kihlström
Thomas Kihlström (born 11 December 1948) is a former badminton player from Sweden known for his agility, tactical astuteness, and coolness under pressure. Though an impressive singles player early in his career, his greatest successes came in doubles. Career Kihlström won the 1983 IBF World Championships in mixed doubles with Nora Perry. He also won 16 medals at the European Championships, two of them in men's singles, two in mixed doubles, five in men's doubles and 7 in team competition. He shared two All-England men's doubles titles, one with Bengt Fröman in 1976 and the other with Stefan Karlsson in 1983. Derek Talbot
Derek Talbot (born 23 March 1947) is a former English badminton player. One of Britain's most successful "all-rounders," he won eleven English National Championships four singles, three doubles, and four mixed doubles. He also won four Commonwealth Games gold medals and in partnership with the formidable Gillian Gilks he won three mixed doubles crowns at the prestigious All-England Open (1973, 1976, and 1977). Billy Gilliland
Billy Gilliland (born 27 March 1957) is a former badminton player from Scotland who excelled from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. Career Although he won the Scottish national singles title in 1979, the tall, angular Gilliland was a doubles specialist at the international level with his greatest success coming in mixed doubles. Gilliland won mixed doubles at the prestigious All-England Championships with England's Nora Perry in 1985. He had previously reached the All-England final in both men's doubles and mixed doubles in 1982. He was a mixed doubles bronze medalist at the 1977 IBF World Championships with Joanna Flockhart. Kirsten Larsen (born 14 March 1962) is a retired female badminton player from Denmark. Career Larsen won the All England final in 1987 in singles. She also won three bronze medals at the Badminton World Cup in 1980, 1985 and 1986 and a gold medal in 1988 European championships. She was also Danish champion in singles from 1981 to 1983 and again from 1986 to 1988, and she was called Lene Køppen's successor.
