The Europe Zone was one of the three regional zones of the 1980 Davis Cup. 30 teams entered the Europe Zone, competing across 2 sub-zones. 26 teams entered the competition in the qualifying round, competing for 4 places in each sub-zone's main draw to join the 4 finalists from the 1979 Davis Cup Europe Zone, 1979 Europe Zone. The winners of each sub-zone's main draw went on to compete in the Inter-Zonal Zone against the winners of the 1980 Davis Cup Americas Zone, Americas Zone and 1980 Davis Cup Eastern Zone, Eastern Zone. Italy Davis Cup team, Italy defeated Sweden Davis Cup team, Sweden in the Zone A final, and Czechoslovakia Davis Cup team, Czechoslovakia defeated Romania Davis Cup team, Romania in the Zone B final, resulting in both Italy and Czechoslovakia progressing to the 1980 Davis Cup#Inter-Zonal Zone, Inter-Zonal Zone. 1980 Davis Cup
The 1980 Davis Cup was the 69th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 52 teams would enter the competition, 30 in the Europe Zone, 12 in the Americas Zone, and 10 in the Eastern Zone. Argentina Davis Cup team, Argentina defeated the United States Davis Cup team, United States in the Americas Inter-Zonal final, Australia Davis Cup team, Australia defeated New Zealand Davis Cup team, New Zealand in the Eastern Zone final, and Italy Davis Cup team, Italy and Czechoslovakia Davis Cup team, Czechoslovakia were the winners of the two Europe Zones, defeating Sweden Davis Cup team, Sweden and Romania Davis Cup team, Romania respectively. In the Inter-Zonal Zone, Czechoslovakia defeated Argentina and Italy defeated Australia in the semifinals.
