Marvel Comics is an American comic book publishing, publisher and the flagship property of Marvel Entertainment, a divsion of The Walt Disney Company since September 1, 2009. Evolving from Timely Comics in 1939, ''Magazine Management/Atlas Comics'' in 1951 and its predecessor, ''Marvel Mystery Comics'', the ''Marvel Comics'' title/name/brand was first used in June 1961. Alien (film)
''Alien'' is a 1979 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Dan O'Bannon. Based on a story by O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, it follows the crew of the commercial space tug ''Nostromo'', who, after coming across a mysterious derelict spaceship on an undiscovered moon, find themselves up against an aggressive and deadly extraterrestrial set loose on the ''Nostromo''. Marvel UK
Marvel UK was an imprint of Marvel Comics formed in 1972 to reprint US-produced stories for the British weekly comic market. Marvel UK later produced original material by British creators such as Alan Moore, John Wagner, Dave Gibbons, Steve Dillon, and Grant Morrison. There were a number of editors in charge of overseeing the UK editions. Although based in the United States, Tony Isabella oversaw the establishment of Marvel UK. He was succeeded by UK-based editors Peter L. Skingley (a.k.a. Peter Allan) and then Matt Softly – both of whom were women who adopted male pen names for the job (in reality, they were Petra Skingley and Maureen Softly). They were then replaced by Neil Tennant, who later found fame with the pop group the Pet Shop Boys. Massimo Mattioli (25 September 1943 – 23 August 2019) was an Italian artist and cartoonist. Mattioli debuted in 1965 in the periodic comic book '' Il Vittorioso'' with ''Vermetto Sigh''. He was also published in ''Corto Maltese'' and ''Frigidaire''. In fact, he was one of the founders of ''Frigidaire''. Later he moved to London, where he made comics for the '' Mayfair'' magazine. In the early 1970s, he created Pasquino for the ''Paese Sera'' newspaper. In 1973 he began his collaboration in the ''Il Giornalino'', creating the character '' Pinky''. ''Il Male'' (meaning ''Evil'' in English) was an Italian satirical magazine published in Rome, Italy, between 1978 and 1982. History and profile ''Il Male'' was first published in February 1978 as a biweekly tabloid format political satire magazine. The magazine originated from Italian cartoonist Pino Zac's idea. Tommaso Chiaretti was the first editor-in-chief. The magazine became later weekly. It started with a circulation of 20.000 copies and reached peaks of 48,000 copies. Its fake covers of prominent newspaper were sensational media pranks; the authors even distributed a fake ''Pravda'' in Russia during communist rule. ''Battle Picture Weekly'', at various times also known as ''Battle Action'', ''Battle Action Force'', ''Battle'' and ''Battle with Storm Force'', was a British war comic book magazine published by IPC Magazines from (issues dates) 8 March 1975 to 23 January 1988, when it merged with the new incarnation of ''Eagle''. Most stories were set in World War II, with some based on other conflicts. A notable feature of the comic, suited to its era of circulation, was its letters page with readers sending in stories of their fathers' and grandfathers' exploits during the First World War and the Second World War, often in an effort to win a nominal star letter prize. Charley's War
''Charley's War'' was a British comic strip about the First World War, written by Pat Mills and drawn by Joe Colquhoun. It was originally published in ''Battle Picture Weekly'' from January 1979 to October 1986. Though later parts of the story covered the Russian Civil War (and, in episodes written by Scott Goodall, the early part of the Second World War), Pat Mills has stated that Charley's story should end at the end of the First World War, and this has been reflected in the collections published by Titan Comics. Joe Colquhoun
Joe Colquhoun (7 November 1926 – 13 April 1987) was a British comics artist best known for his work on '' Charley's War'' in '' Battle Picture Weekly''. He was also the first artist to draw ''Roy of the Rovers''. Biography Born in Harrow, Middlesex, Joe Colquhoun served in the Royal Navy during World War II, and won a place at Kingston upon Thames School of Art on his return. His career in comics began in 1951 in Jungle Trails, and he went on to work for IPC Media on titles such as ''Lion'', and later ''Tiger'', where he drew ''Roy of the Rovers'' for six years, from 1954 to 1960, despite having no interest in football. In the early 1970s he worked mainly for IPC's humour comics '' Buster'' and ''Cor!!'', until Battle Picture Weekly came along in 1976. Pat Mills
Patrick Eamon Mills (born 1949) is an English comics writer and editor who, along with John Wagner, revitalised British boys comics in the 1970s, and has remained a leading light in British comics ever since. He has been called "the godfather of British comics". His comics are notable for their violence and anti-authoritarianism. He is best known for creating '' 2000 AD'' and playing a major part in the development of '' Judge Dredd''. Biography Mills started his career as a sub-editor for D. C. Thomson & Co. Ltd, where he met Wagner. In 1971 both left to go freelance, and were soon writing scripts for IPC's girls' and humour comics. After D.C. Turnhout () is a Belgian municipality and city located in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the city of Turnhout proper.
